Anyone been to Cuba? Need advice on the area

My sister in-law is in the Navy and is stationed in Cuba she wants me to visit her but me being one who has not done alot of traveling would like to know what to expect. Is it pretty there, whats the weather like?
Anyone know about the base and what thats like.
Any info would be great thanks
