Star ratings

I just got an allert from mylot explaining that the low star ratings couldn't be caused by rogue sabatours. Which apparently means that telling people the truth that they don't want to hear or heaven forbid disagreeing with them is virtual seuicide to your star ratings. I guess I'm just going to have to be mr. happy and make everyone feel good as they plunge over the cliff so I don't slip down any further. I have to say I'm quickly loosing interest here. I did well when I first started, but it seems almost pointless now and I have to search forever to find a discussion worth actually responding to. I'll probably pop in every so often just to see how things have progressed but for now, I'm outa here.
Hope everyone else does better.

I am like you but I don't care what rating I get. I try to give my opinion, and that is just it My opinion, they can take it or throw it a way. I do not live in my world at their pleasure, so it matters not if they do or do not agree.And I am sorry that you are moving on, which I understand as I so enjoyed Yahoo answers until it became over run with bigots raciest and preteens who didn't have a clue, and did truly need help, but after the 50 What do I do to get a boy/girl friend, it gets a bit much, so I came to mylot and found a few people that are fun and interesting to have discussions with, come back soon, you will be missed.

Ah but apparently they like your opinion enough not to rate you poorly. Unfortunantly most of what I'm seeing on here is exactly what you expressed that you didn't like on yahoo. I'm also seeing more and more posts just put up there for the sake of posting. You've apperently found a niche I haven't and I'm glad its working for you.
I'll probably still pop in every so often, but I know I won't be as active as I was.

My rating is 88/100. Obviously some people did not like my reply to their discussion or my discussion. I have noticed a few here are looking for sugar coated replies where you tell them right what they want to hear. Well they are not going to get those replies from me. :)

you are more than welcome to disagree with me on just about anything lol, i enjoy the chalange of a bat around of ideas, those that whine and rate badly just because they didn't get the answer they were fishing for should just stick to non confrontaional topics of discussion.
i rate people where i feel they have given me something to think about or i like the answer in general, but so far in the time that i have been here on mylot, i haven't rated anyone with a minus.
i really don't understand what the whole rating star system is about, i mean obviously i know that the more reputation you have, the better it is for you (more pay or whatever) but there is no actual explanation of which colour star is best... so i just pay very little attention to my star :P lol.

I find it interesting and think that it appears that the "Can't we all just get along?" question is what is being asked by the admins.
It seems like a good intent, but with some VERY charged discussions here involving religeon, politics, and relationships, there are going to be responses that turn some people off.
I know folks on this discussion are stating that negative ratings are not something they give, or give truly on quality; but there are some out there that are strictly doing so on opinion. I've done a few experiements and it was telling.
