I took my husband to work today. On my way home I noticed my tire was really low. I pulled into a tire shop. It was just me and 2 of my 3 kids. Actually it was the younger 2 kids. So I drag my 3 year old and my 11 month old into the shop after I parked. I waited in line when this man who was an obvious southerner(by accent) comes out and helps me. Before people in front of me. I went ahead and told him my problem. He took my keys and brought my car inside. I am holding my baby and my other son is talking to everyone in reach. He comes out after about 2 minutes and says"you have a nail in your tire, I will fix it". So off he goes into that big garage and he fixes my tire. I explained that I had to hurry to pick my little girl up after school. I had 30 minutes and it took 20 to get there. He fixed my tire, aired the others up and cleaned my windshield in 3 minutes. I asked what I owed, and this gentlman in a time where few of his breed are left, says to me that this one is on him. A sweeter person I have never met. On a cold winter day with my children, I got a mom freebie. I find I get those a lot. Like I get frre meals at a diner, or Wal-Mart associates give my daughter a sucker. Its just little things, never a huge deal, but I call them Mom Freebies. Ever get any? I want to know what sort of mom freebies everyone else gets. From people giving up places in lines to free stuff at the grocery store... Tell me all about your mom freebie.

I don't know, I'm not a Mom, but I'm glad to know that this does happen to mothers everywhere. If anyone deserves a few freebies, you people do. I hope you get many more Mom freebies in the days ahead.

I havent gotten a whole lot personally, People tend to give my little boy things, which i thank them for. One thing that sticks out in my mind though, is i was working as a waitress ( pre children) there was this lovely old couple who came in to eat. They were so sweet. The man said I reminded him of his granddaughter, I mean just all around wonderful people. I even pulled up a chair and chatted with them ( i love small diners for this reason, your boss never seems to get mad if you visit) Anyway near the end of their meal one of my other tables signaled me over, and asked if she could pay for their meal. She wanted it to be a kind thing, but she didnt want them to know who did it. So i agreed and she paid for their meal. She left before them, and when they went to cash out i explained how another diner had allready paid for their meal and wanted them to have a good day. This old ladies eyes just filled with tears and it really amazed me. I never thought that such a simple thing could mean so much. But it really does... Ill always remember that act of kindness, and in turn when i can, i do something kind like it. Sometimes ill pay for someone elses meal when im in a drive through, ill say i want to pay for the people behind me. Others are alway so stunned when you tell them that. But you remember that there are kind people in this world. Willing to help out. And thats a beautiful thing.
