Controversial Topic!

Alright, I know that the star ratings don't really mean anything, but it's kind of annoying. I posted a controversial topic, and now my star rating went down by 6 points over night. I like my star rating being high, because I feel that I contribute a lot to the site, and I really really like being a member. I like people seeing that I actually try to post good topics that gets people talking. I did not give one negative on my controversial topic, even though I disagreed with them. I know what the policies state, but do you give negatives when you disagree with someone? What do you give negatives for?

hi. i am actually new in mylot, and i know i still have a lot to know. but i think no one should give a negative to a post he doesn't agree to. every one is entitled to an opinion, and people have different points-of-view, so eventhough we disagree to an opinion, we have to accept it. and i think this is what's mylot's all about...expressing oneself without judgement or discrimination. is it not? i would give a plus to anyone who responds to my posts. wouldn't you?

Welcome to myLot! I always give a positive to people who respond to my posts. I have never given a negative for a response, not matter if they agreed with me or not. Thank you for your input!

The star ratings are used in almsot all aspects of being an active member of myLot. It's not just your discussions that you start. It includes your responses, your comments posted, images you post. Contents of discusssions you start as far as it being informative, interesting, educational, helpful to others etc. http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx If you've read this I apologize for the link. But have fun & don't fret over a star ratings drop. It's still fun. Just work harder I'd say at it. I strive to do the same. Thanks again. Happy postings from grandpa Bob.

Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I have read that guideline, it just made me sad to see my rating drop! I like to start conversations and add to conversations that I feel matter to me, but I would never give someone a negative just because they disagree. That is why we're all here, to learn other people's points of view, and grow. Thanks again for your input!!! (My star rating is growing again slowly... :) )

The star ratings also drop from not many responses on your topics I've heard. Not sure if that's the case or not. But don't worry over it. Happy postings from Grandpa Bob
