As I can remember, I first watched cartoons but when Voltes V was aired. I started watching it and I find it very interesting because of lots of fight scenes and issues that arises. Then Dragon Ball Z, this is a very long anime series but you can actually see how Son Goku grow and how he acquired his strength as time passes by. You can see lots of characters improving their skills and fighting techniques. Then, Ghost fighter was aired, I am really hooked to this because Yusuke was really strong eventhough his just a high school student. I was on my first year on high school when this anime series was aired and I guess thats the reason why I was hooked to this anime. Do you remember the first anime series you have watched or get hooked on?

Hmm... I think the oldest ones that I have watched is Flying House and Super Book. I'm not even sure if anybody else watched it. And then there's Rainbow Bright and My Little Ponies, although they are not considered as anime, right? The earliest ones that I have watched are Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Ghost Fighter (it was originally broadcast in Channel 13, then Channel 9) and Time Machine. I seem to remember watching a guy playing baseball, but for the life of me I can't remember the title.lol!

No, flying house and super book is not anime. If I'm not mistaken, it was not even made in Japan.

Flying House and Super Book are about the stories on the Bible. These are stories taken from the Bible but the lead characters here are able to be with or mingle with these Bible characters. There the stories of Samson and Delilah, how Noah built the ark, Joseph the Dreamer and they also able to be with Jesus when He was still a baby until Jesus started His ministry. Flying House and Super Book are almost the same, the Flying House can travel when the House literally fly and disappear then they would find themselves inside a story from the Bible. While the Super Book, they are able to travel through this so called Super Book. These are good for children.

but do we consider flying house and super book as anime? i've always thought that anime series are usually with big eyes, funky hair that may range from yellow to red and from green to black, with a lot of different expressions that may go with sweat beads/drops, heart and stars... you know... and super book and flying house doesnt have that right? even rainbow bright and my little ponies. they are just like... cartoons.

There are so many anime as far as I can remember but what I do remember when I was a child, I remember my first 5 animes viewed in the Philippines from mondays to fridays: Mecanda Robot, Lezerion, Voltes V, Daimos, and of course my favorite, BIOMAN. Wow, those what I call the classics.

Yeah! Voltes V and Daimos was the first anime hits, I guess, in the Philippines. These animes were highly recommended by my friends when they started airing them. I remember when I was on Elementary and High Schools days, we were talking about these series, brainstorming, discussing and we even reenact some episodes especially how Voltes V slashed their enemies. Daimos was also a hit because of their love theme, between Richard and Erika. Two different people who fell in love with the different race. These issue was an impact to the success of this anime series.

I agree, my favourite is Robert Akizuki also known as Mask Rider Black! He was the original Mask Rider, the guy's really cool. His transformation ritual is really good and he has this live motorcycle and another strong motorcycle that creates this "attack shield!"

So you're still watching Sailormoon and still enjoying it I guess. These girls like the other anime characters are evolving. They become stronger, smarter and better fighter. Their outfit or costume are also evolving/changing. Their costumes from a simple school uniform-like into a better and hotter ones. It turned out to be that Sailormoon's outfit begun to have extra length. These girls are really nice, nice chicks!

it seems that your comments on sailormoon sums up to this: they have nice legs, figures, and are hot chicks when they transform. geez... sorry but. "what a typical guy!".. ^__^;; why do guys always see the skin, the outside first and not the content? i hate it. i dont like it when some people are treating sailormoon like that.

Speed Racer was about a guy who raced in many different races with his mechanic named trixe a chimpanzee and another guy its been like alonnnnnnnnnnnnnggggg time since i have seen it. That was a good description of G-Force though. :)

Now I remember, G-Force was also one of the first anime aired, one of the earliest anime they have shown. I dont remember speed racer, maybe you can atleast give some description of it. We may be able to remember it, just in case you hit the spot or give an accurate description of it. G-Force is a team composed by five extraordinary people who dress up like birds, an eagle, a falcon and I cant actually remember the others. This is an all pack action anime, explosions and fight scene are all out!

Well, the first 'real' anime that I have watched is Sailormoon (LOL). Well yeah, Sailormoon. Then came Voltes 5, Daimos, etc. =P But as for modern anime, I think the first was Yaiba (was that modern? LOL)
@Beowulf (551)

I like Yaiba as well. I like the originality of that anime series. A sword thats really powerful, I like the idea of a sword thats able to change it capability or power by changing the ball on a hole of the sword. I like Yaiba's sword, its a powerful sword. His adventures are really good, the storyline is very interesting. Yaiba has a good swordmanship skills, he managed to complete the required balls. His sword turned to become a much stronger sword than before. This is a good, I wonder if they would air this again. Im just hoping though.

I would say that Doraemon today would equal the cartoons. Its been that long, I havent realized that it was aired that long. Now I remember, I was just on Elementary when they aired Dragon Ball Z and went to First Year High School when they aired Ghost Fighter or YuYu Hakusho.

Back then, my friends are watching Sailor Moon. We were a group of boys, we would actually shout when these girls are starting to transform! My favourites here are Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars. I really like their long hair and beautiful faces. These girls are really strong especially Sailor Moon, shes sweet and cute as well. These girls have gained lots of fans but when the other animes appeared, I guess they have forgotten Sailor Moon but still there are lots of fans out there. Most especially girls.

Thanks secretbear, now I remember. The Battle hopper and Road sector are Mask Rider Black's motorcycles. BTX and BTX: Neo, where the lead hero uses a Mechanical Horse, the other was a Giant Turtle. The other two were a dragon and I forgot the last one, sorry, heheheh. Maybe someone would tell us the other one, I just could remember if it was a tiger or just another big beast. The one who uses the Giant Turtle was a doctor that help the lead hero and I guess he enhanced his power.

The first anime show I've watched was Voltron, the five lions. I was also very fond of Dragonball Z. That's when I started to learn how to draw. My favorite characters would be Gokou and Trunks. I also got hooked with Sailormoon S. I was very fond of Michiru and Haruka (Sailor Neptune and Sailor Saturn).

Sailormoon really rocks! These cute girls, how I wish to meet them, I even have dreams of them when I was still watching it. These hot and cool girls. I really really like Sailor Mars and Sailor Venus, I love their long hair and cute faces. They are my favourite Sailor warriors, their legs are really nice. Their powers are not really that strong but still I like them a lot because of their pretty faces and nice figures.

I think the firt anime I watched was Speed Racer. My mum was in love with that show as a kid and when it would get aired late at night she always dragged me over to watch it. After that though I didn't really get into anime until Digimon first premiered, I was hooked. After Digimon than I got hooked on Gundam Wing and it just went downhill after that! =P I've been addicted since then, I can't even anme all of the series that I've seen!

Uhmm... Digimon and Gundam... Digimon is the story of several kids who had a pet. These pets are called Digital monsters or Digimon in short. These monsters are their friends actually and these pets are evolving from one stage to higher stage of growth. There are lots of Gundam series, one was about Heero and the other was about Akira. I think the Gundam which casted Heero was the first Gundam series, the Gundam Wing. Where there's this Gundam 01. The other was the Gundam Seed, which included Akira. Gundam Freedom was there.

The first anime that I have ever seen was Samurai X (Rouruni kenshin). At that time I didn't even know that it was an anime :D, I didn't even know what was really happening but I liked the fighting scenes so I kept watching. It was very good, but I have to watch it once more so I could get the story too :)

Samurai X was also an instant hit! Fight scenes are really cool, slashes, bloods, sword techniques are really good. You will see that there are lots of sword techniques, like the Hiten Mitsurugi style and different clan have their own techniques that they keep to maintain their identities. Battousai was a known to be a cold blooded killer that turned to be a wanderer to help others. This is his way of paying for his sins and try to make up with them by protecting innocent people.

I also watched that anime series, Sailor Moon. I've been hooked to that series because those Sailor warriors are really pretty and hot! I love the part when they were transforming, those silhouettes are really cool! I've been trying to imitate Tuxedo Mask's hair style but I find it really hard to manage and control. It always fall out of place, I end up looking like an addict guy and my eyes are always hitted by my hair.

I'm not sure. I think it was saint seiya when i was 6. When I saw it by the first time I usually said "woow it's awesome" I was amezed by the drow and songs and plot... a lot of years later saint seiya was replayed in another channel.. and now I can say.. It has a terrible draw and has a realy realy bad dubbed hehehe. But i'm not sure if my first was saint seiya or dragon ball... I can't remember very well

Yup! I am also able to watch some episodes of Saint Seiya every Saturday on one network. If you have been watching it when you're still six, I guess it really a good anime but if you will compare it to the anime that are coming out today, it would be out classed based on the the art and effects.

Now I remember, Magic Knight Rayearth is about three girls who were summoned by the princess from different world. The girls mission were to collect some items that would make them strong and they should protect and stop the destruction of the other world. There were actually lots of nasty battles and sacrifices. I like the robots here because there were able to control them with their consciousness. These girls are also cute! I like these girls because they are strong willed!

Yeah, I've seen Voltes V back when I was a wee little child, but I was more drawn to Mazinger Z and most of the other super robot series, like Starvengers (aka. Getter Robot), Gaiking, Daimos, Voltron. Oddly, while kids my age back in the 80s went gaga over Transformers, He-man, and GI Joe, I was stalking video rental stores for Gundam Zeta, Warriors of the Wind (aka. Nausicaa), Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato), and Captain Harlock. I must be a pretty jaded teen by the 90s since Dragon Ball didn't really phase me so much as Tenchi Muyo (one of the the first anime shown in cable networks here in the Philippines).

Most kids on 80's are really hooked on Voltes V but Mazinger Z was also a hit. I've also been watching Voltron but there were two versions. The first was five individual machines made in accordance of the image of tigers and lions, please correct me if Im wrong. There was a princess who was also an operator of one of those tigers. The other one was a group of three teams with five members each, I cant recollect it well but again please correct if Im wrong. There were land based machines, air based machines and water based machines. It was like "you form the leg, torso and I will form the head!" Thats what I remember from that time.
