how did they come up with the name 'windows'

lol ... has anyone ever wondered how they actually came up with the name 'windows'. i mean why window? why not sumthin else creative, not glass.

I would have thought that it was pretty obvious, since the system ceased using basic command prompt and started displaying the actions in a window that opened on the screen. What else would you have called it, boxes or rectangles?

actually it was originally going to be called "Interface Manager", but the marketing head of microsoft convince the company that the name "WINDOWS" would be a more appealing name to the consumers.

its named windows because when you need to open any program or browse your computer it opens a 'window' or a workspace unlike in DOS that you only have 1 screen to work with, its way back to windows 3.1

probably coz it goes to sleep everytime u run a really powerful application....n it doesn't know wat to do........so, we ppl call it "Windoze"
