My husband had also lived alone for several years in the campus. If he didn't cook he wouldn't eat, like you :) But in general he likes cooking. He says he doesn't like cooking every day, on a routine basis, but our weekend usually begins with his question: "What do you want me to cook?" Of course I cook myself, but now we live together with my parents, so there are three people in one kitchen plus my dad who usually washes dishes :)

Me and my father are the only two who REALLY know how to cook. But since he's working abroad, I am the one left to cook for the family. I have my own specialties and recipes that best describes my creativeness, and my favorite cuisisne was of our own (filipino dishes).

No, they do know how to cook. But I prefer the foods that I cook than theirs', I don't like some of their recipes. I believe that our food would taste much better if I would be the one who cooks it!;)

Fine! So women in your family don't cook at all? Is it more customary in Philipines that men cook?

That's it! Most men in Russia, by the way, like to eat but don't like to cook. In Israel, just on the contrary, guys do cook themselves. In India I suppose the same situation as in Russia?

yes in india it doesn't give a man a very good reputation if he "enjoys" to cook. this thing was especially in the generation of my father, today young generation(mine) sees it differently but still they prefer not to cook:)

Thank you for your answer. I wonder why it's not a god thing for men to cook? Is it something that discredits a man's reputation? Hard to believe. Is housework in general not good for men in India?

Yeah, it depends what you meal you'd like to cook. I specialize in preparing salads, and my husband likes to cook and have meat, though he is excellent in preparing all kinds of meals. Do you want a recipe of some tasty salad?

I know that my other half is one of the very few men out there who enjoys cooking. It's quite funny because I end up cooking so much for me & him because he's always working.. So sometimes he will even beg me to cook because he wants to give me a break from cooking because I am always doing it so often. I find if I don't have dinner ready before my other half gets home from work. He will be more than willing to throw his things to the side to help me prepare dinner. There are plenty of times actually where sometimes I will wait until he gets home to cook dinner just so that we can do it together. As I know he likes to help me prepare dinner. We're kind of like a team when we prepare dinner together. I love that about our relationship. I love how helpful he can be in the kitchen to. If he comes home from work & see's I am having a difficult time straining something or the sauce doesn't taste right to me. He seems to always give me great idea's on what to add to the sauce to give it a little something. I love that he is able to know exactly what flavors & tastes we both will like. I know that my other half makes some really amazing tuna melts. I was apprehensive about trying them at first because I honestly had never heard about them until he mentioned them. And I was willing to be open minded enough to allow him to cook these tuna melts for me. So when he ended up handing me a dish of the ones he had prepared for dinner. I was just in shock at how amazing they had tasted that I just couldn't wait to sink my teeth in to them. To my amazement they we're rather tasty. Now he is always making them each pay day as it gives us a break from having to use a lot of dishes to create this type of food. It's so simple, yet so tasty. And no one makes them quite as tasty as my other half in my opinion. He also makes some really amazing dip for tortilla chips. He adds so many different ingredients that I would have never imagined putting in the food I make. And they just taste so great. He actually made these for me when we had first met & now it's one of those things we will have to treat ourselves. We sometimes will just sit there with a big bag of tortilla chips & just have that for dinner. We will even go as far as to dip the chips in the dip he had created & eat them like that. Some people may find that to be strange to have that as a meal but it's just to delicious to pass up! Or sometimes he will even lay some of the tortilla chips in to a baking dish. And will put the dip he had created on top of the chips. And then sprinkle cheese on them & bake them in the oven until the cheese melts. This served with salsa or sour cream is to die for! In conclusion.. As you can see my other half enjoys cooking quite a bit! He is always helping me to come up with new recipes to cook each pay day. Or helps me to look up recipes & we change them to our liking. He's truly an amazing cook. I feel I have taught him how to cook hamburger a lot better than he used to. Before it wasn't done enough for me, now it's cooked really well. I think we've both taught each other new ways of cooking. Or new ways of cooking certain dishes. My other half has to be one of my favorite people to cook dinner with! I love the interesting foods he has helped to prepare for both me & him over the years! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

Thank you :) We like to cook together too. It's a great past time I think - we joke, help each other and then gather our family - my parents - around the table to have a meal and drink something good...

My dad really likes to cook and is really good at it. In fact that's where I got a lot of my cooking knowlege from. My husband doesn't like to cook at all and it's usually a disaster when he tries (but I don't tell him that). But..he does love to grill out and he's unbelievably good at that. I would rather have a steak that he grills at home than go out to eat.

I see. I've mentioned there are men who don't like to cook indoors or even don't know how to do it well, but they are great in grilling. That's my brother. He doesn't touch a dish to cook (though many years ago he was good at it), but his barbecues very delicious meals.

I do like cooking pretty much, even though i admit that i am a bit lazy so when i have to do it every day it gets a bit boring lol. But i love to spend an hour or two cooking dinner at weekends, preparing something yummy.

Right. I've mentioned if men don't cook every day, they prepare something special, yummy and tasty. Most women who have to cook on a regular basis cook good meals, but I don't know why it's usually taken for granted.

I know a lot of men that love to cook. Most men don't. But most chefs are men!!!! Ever gone to a nice restauant, and had a wonderful dinner??? 9 times out of 10 it was a man who prepared the meal!! I love it when the males in my family cook. It seems like they know how to season everything just right!!

Yeah, most chefs are men and they do their job great! I know one family where the husband who was a programmer and lost his job started to cook. He's a chef now and loves his job much more than that of a programmer! Thank you :)

Guys and cooking is such a funny controversy. I have met a few guys that do bare minimum cooking, but their "trade" so to speak is barbecuing. But they won't be in the kitchen by any means putting a casserole together or making a beautiful tossed salad. My dad wasn't much of a cook, but he did make very good chili and beef roasts with carrots and potatoes. My ex husband would result to most freezer meals, although he was very good on the barbecue.

My brother is also very good on the barbecue, in contrast to everyday necessity to cook. That's his wife's duty. Though, now I remember, he cooked some meals and even baked when he was about 13 years old. "Where are those happy days?"

i believe many men like to cook and can do it good as well. my hubby does it good, so does my brother. many men here in the Philippines (and in abroad too) could at least cook even just simple dishes. it's is one of the things me and my countrymen can be proud of as Filipinos.

My husband loves to cook and he is fantastic, he can think up recipes and they turn out yummy. I like to cook and I do most of the cooking, but if I am busy my husband takes over also on the weekends he takes over the kitchen and gives me a holiday! My brother too is a good cook but he is more into the barbeque cooking. We are Indian!
