How long did It take you to get your first "Best Response"? Have you gotten one?

I have been here for about a week, so I do not expect to have gotten one yet, and, of course, I have not gotten one yet. I still of course am doing what you are supposed to, just trying to post good responses, but sometimes the best response has already been picked. So, for those of you that have gotten a best response, how long did it take you to get one, and maybe if you would like to share a story about your first best response or something like that. Also, if anyone has any tips to get a best response, that would be cool. Thanks!

All you can do is do you best to give good responses and hope it's what they were looking for. If choose discussions that you know about or are meaningful to you you'll have a better chance. It shouldn't take too long. I got my 4th with my 100th post so that was pretty special, especially since that post was extremely meaningful to me. I've gotten 5 more best responses since so now I'm waiting for the big #10. I'll come back here and let you know when that happens. Oh and I started February 7th I think.

I promised I'd come back to tell you when I got #10 and I did!. I have 183 posts total as I write this. So if you keep doing what you're doing and working hard to write quality posts, you'll be there in no time. Good Luck!

I was actually surprised when I got nominated for best response. I just spoke my mind, and it got the position. I'm still not sure how exactly I did it, but I did... As far as criteria when choosing my own best responses, I pick a response for the title if they answer the entire question on the issue at hand. More points if they take it one step farther. I don't choose anyone just because they agree with me; in fact, I have chosen several that I disagreed with, because they were well-written and thought out and weren't slapdash and hastily put together. That's usually the criteria that I follow when choosing best response. I don't know about anyone else's criteria, but that's mine. :)

I really have forgotten when it was, I had to check. It happened 2 days after joining. But don't worry, I'm sure you'll get your first one very soon! I don't believe, somebody could give any tips. I try every time to do my best but all others are doing also. It depends on the taste of the person who started the discussion.

There's no reason why you shouldn't get a best response within a week. I got mine within 30 hours of being a member. If you try to find a discussion which is new, or doesn't have any responses, there's far less likelyhood of a best response already having been chosen. So, that might be a way of you achieving your first a little more quickly. Providing it's a discussion I can give a good, detailed response to, I keep taking the top one of the new discussions. If it's not a particularly good one, then I look down the list till I find one. Of course, I respond to my friends' discussions as well. I tend to pick one of each of theirs, and then go onto new, and if that gets to the stage where I've exhausted my good answers, I look on the discussions with no responses. Good luck... I hope you get your first best response soon. Brightest Blessings.

I pick the best response on discussions that have been up for a little while and have several responses to choose from. If one of my discussions has only one response, uless that one is truely spectacular, it's probably not going to get best response. I use it to close out discussions, because it does (in a way doesn't it?). Anyway, I try to pick the best treatment of the question overall and not whether they agree or disagree with me. I use the ratings more than the best response to reward good posts in my discussions, and it usually takes a while to pick one for me. BTW, my first "best response" came from you, so, Thanks!
