Are surveys profitable or not?

I am interested in learning if surveys online are profitable or if they are not worth it. I would like to do some surveys if they are intelligent surveys and not the usual detergent soap variety. If you know of any good websites for surveys that I can check out it would be appreciated.

I tried the survey sites and have given up on them. They are so long and sometimes you don't get paid unless you subscribe to or purchase something. Plus you receive so much spam after signing up to do the surveys. It's like they sell your email address to everyone in the world. Hope this helps. Lloyd

Thank you Lloyd for your response. I don't think I will bother with surveys after reading discussion on mylot. it appears they want people to purchase items like you have indicated.
