Well the last time I had an overnight stay at the hospital, I was just a little girl, so I can't really tell you how the food was. I often hear that people dread hospital stays because apparently the food isn't great. Have you ever been served food at the hospital during your stay? Was it better/worse than you expected? What did they serve you?

The food at a hospital is a lot better then what it use to be. I have been in the hospital alot and was amazed the last time that I went and was served mashed potatoes and gravy and fried chicken(i think it was fried chicken) anyways, it was delicious. I sometimes go to the hospital that my mother works at just to eat lunch, the foods cheap and pretty good.

Oh boy do I know hospital food...lol I had flesh eating bacteria in 2000 and was in the hospital for 4 months. I was in 2 different hospitals and a rehabilitation unit at my local hospital. I've also been in the hospital at least 20 times since then. All of the hospitals have food that is okay. They usually have a varied menu you can choose from. By okay I mean it's edible but not something you would pay for. Some of the places have really good food. Quite a few of the hospitals in Boston,Ma USA have great food and lots of options. It's usually fresher food. The worst thing is if you have restrictions on your diet, like no salt or low calorie, sugar free etc. That's when the food can really be bad..I almost gagged the first time I had the salt free soup at my local hospital...eewwww But I've had some really good food too. Once I had baked stuffed haddock that was worth staying for...lol

I guess there's nothing wrong with the food itself. I guess people just don't have any other choice but the food served to them and to think it's from the hospital, plus it might be one the those foods you don't like but the doctor says it have to be your daily servings. hehehe.. I've been in a hopital many times before and surely the food is not in my menu so often times I ask my mother to buy me something else and ask the doctor if it's okay.

Once when I visited my grandfather in the hospital, they brought an extra lunch for me, and it was pretty good. They served us meat pie and mashed potatoes with blueberry pie for dessert.

The last time I was in the hospital I was so sick. I got this porridge thing and I was eating heartily until I realized I was too full and bloated. I had to skip meals for at least 2 days to ease the bloat. I just had to depend on the IV. It wasn't easy at all. After 2 days I could eat again. They served vegetarian food and it tasted good enough.

Our hospital food is very good. It is so good they have the cafeteria opened to the public. A lot of office workers eat lunch there everyday. My Mother has been in the hospital a lot over the past three years and I always eat a meal with her. The food is as good as or better than the local restuarants in our area. So over the years hospital food has changed for the better.

Well when my cousin was in the hospital we ordered a pizza! Just to avoid the food. She had surgery, and was required to eat the hospital food, and ended up flushing it down the toilet!!! So I guess thats an individual answer to your question.

I was in the hospital almost 2 years ago. When they had me on a normal diet the food was quite good actually. It really surprised me on it. Now when dietary put me on low salt (the doctor didn't and kept taking me off it but they kept putting me back on) the food was lousy only because of the choices I had. With the full diet I had much better choices like a ham sandwich or a roast beef one. Neither of which would they let me have on the low salt.

Last year I was in a rehabilitation nursing home for four months and I lost 59lbs of weight. The food was cold, bland and stogey. Yuk! but I should not complain as I am healthier now, a year later, and still the same weight and feel great.

I think that they serve terrible food at hospitals so that you will leave faster. My dad was in three hospitals for three seperate operations and the food was terrible at all of them. He was glad to get home so my mom could cook for him. I personally would not touch the food. I remember Dad trying to get my daughter to eat his food and she ran from the room. I think if I have to go to the hospital I will take my own food.

Our hospitals have taken a total turn about with their food service. The last few times I've stayed there they have had awesome food and a great variety to choose from too! I was in for my birthday and couldn't have visitors because of my radiation levels so the chef actually prepared me a little cake that said happy birthday and I'm telling you.. it was awesome! LOL The nurses brought it in for me and while only I could eat it after it came to my room they had cupcakes outside of the room that the chef sent up. I think that actual fact that they now have a "chef" instead of just a kitchen says something. I can't complain at all anymore about any hospital food I've had.

Food - The food served to the patients in the hospital. It was very hygienic
Mine experience in the hospital during my pregnancy was excellent the only thing is that they charged a lot like I had a normal delivery and they have taken around 55,000/- but the food was very good and it was on time. I was in Moochand Hospital in Delux room.
