OK, so pancakes are one of my favourite weekend foods. I have pancakes every weekend. Without fail. BUT... my pancake toppings are becoming repetitive. Anyone got some kick-butt ideas for pancake toppings? You have 5 days to plan my next pancake meal! Go for it!

Well I'm not big on toppings for my pancakes besides butter and syrup. However I do like things mixed into the batter. My favorite happens to be blueberries. I love having those mixed into the batter and then the pancakes made up. I've also had chocolate chips put in to the batter. Some other things I've seen mixed in are: Peanut butter, bananas, apple sauce, and apple butter. Hope that helps you.

Oh, I adore blueberries! I'll try mixing them through my pancakes! (But don't they turn the batter blue?) I've never heard of of mixing peanut butter into the batter! Wow! Do you just mix blobs into it, so you get pockets of warm peanut butter as you eat the pancake? Or do you mix it through thoroughly? And what's apple butter? I've never heard of that either!

I havent had pancakes in years, I must make some soon! My mother used to do pancakes rolled up with hame leek and cheese in them for a dinner party starter, that was particularly delicious. We have also used left over chilli and cheese to fill pancakes, role them up, put cheese on top and put them in the oven, thats really nice. Mostly though I would just have a light sprinkle of sugar and a good squeeze of lemon juice on pancakes, you can't beat that :)

I really like pancakes but don't eat them very often. I love berries or fruit preserves on mine. Sometimes I'll heat up some frozen fruit with maple syrup or brown sugar in the microwave and pour it all on top. The best is fruit, cinnamon, and chopped pecans.

i love my pancake with melted butted & drizzle of honey then a bowl of banana or apple cinnamon then a glass of fresh milk for breakfast. when i grab a pancake for an afternoon snack i love to whip it with strawberry jam & a glass of fresh orange juice! sometimes a heavy breakfast may call for pancakes with ham & egg with a cup of hot chocolate.

Wow, you sound like you have a well rounded breakfast! Although I'm not too sure about the ham and egg pancakes with hot chocolate... Actually, the whole ham and eggs with pancakes thing is a little strange to me. I'll have to give that a go and see for myself!

Lemon juice and sugar - yummy! But only if you've made real pancakes, not if you buy those little ones you can get from shops (which sometimes i do becuase i'm lazy, lol!). They're best with ice cream on them!!!

I only make mine from scratch! It's too easy not to, and I find it's much easier to make up however much I want, the way I want it. Mmmm.... ice cream...

make a fruit compote. i do it with apples during the autumn, peaches in the summer. melt a bit of butter and drop in a few peeled, cored, sliced apples and a squirt of lemon juice. add some maple syrup (if you have it) or just some plain or brown sugar. let it simmer for 5-10 minutes, until the apples are soft, and then cut the heat off and let it cool for a bit (the liquid will thicken in this time). be sure to taste to correct the seasonings, and add a wee little pinch of salt. you can never really give accurate measurements since fruit varies in sweetness so much. i usually start the compote when i start the griddle for pancakes and then cut it off while i'm still making pancakes, so it's ready to go when the pancakes are done.

OMG! That sounds awesome! Very very tempting! I'm going to go out and get some peaches tomorrow, and give that a whirl on the weekend! I'm salivating as I am reading your instructions, to make sure I get it right!

I totally agree maple syrup has to be the real stuff! The fake maple flavoured syrup just doesn't cut it!
