I really want my own darkroom! Has anybody got their own set up? Did you assemble it yourself? How did you go about it? Any knowledge would be appreciated... plus I'll give you my kingdom... I promise :P

main thing you should think about if you plan on having an enlarger (ie: a printing darkroom), is that your ceiling is high enough to accomodate for a full zoom-up along the enlarger's shaft. some people end up working with their enlarger on the floor to give enough height in a room with a short ceiling ;) also, if you plan on using the bathroom, make sure you have a second one for guests to use, otherwise they might spill chemicals or bump into equipment haha.

no, i don't have my own darkroom, though i used to want one. i just found it was less of a hassle to rent a darkroom i had available near home, by the hour. that and i already processed film at home without needing a darkroom. so all i had to do at the pay-as-you-go darkroom rental place was the printing. if you have proper cannisters and a light-tight closet or other pitch black closed area, you can load or unload your film there, without exposing it. did it that way for years :)

Enlarger are not big in terms of height. It would definitely fit in a normal sized room.

We share the same sentiment. I want my own darkroom as well. Unfortunately, I can't find anyone selling an enlarger here. I think settin up a darkroom is fairly easy as long as you have the resources. First, you need a room with a safety door sso that light won't easily come in. Then an enlarger, a safety light, the chemicals, containers and others. Those are the basics and those are the things I have observed we have in our darkroom at school. Plus you need a canister when processing the film. Hopefully, this will be of some help to you.

YES!!! :D very useful, thank you stiffened! I'm gonna work towards it gradually I think... I need to decide on a place to put in too, where other people won't be inconvenienced if I steal a room or something... hmmm if you have any other ideas or knowledge, let me know. All advice will be a great help! Thanks again :)
