I remember when I was in high school, I just loved milk duds candy. I never had the money to purchase them but I had a friend who would bring me a bag every day. So I ate them till my heart was content. I have not had any for years until I found this recipe. I had to go buy some and try it out. I adjusted it a tad from the original recipe to make it to our tastes but it is just wonderful. If you love milk duds, you will love these cookies Milk Dud Peanut Butter Surprise Cookies 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine 1/2 cup plus 1 tsp peanut butter 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 egg 1-1/4 cups flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 cup Milk Duds (3.4 oz.) Beat first 4 ingredients until fluffy. Add egg; mix. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Chill dough. Roll into 1-inch balls. Press Milk Dud into center. Roll back into ball. Roll each ball in granulated sugar. Place on ungreased (or parchment paper lined) cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.Cool 1 to 2 minutes before removing from cookie sheet.

Does anyone else have a recipe box filling up from recipes from the kitchen of Villageanne? LOL. I've finally changed that line to just Anne! That way it's not so embarassing if my mother-in-law looks in there! :) Thanks again for another great recipe. I know that my kiddos and I will LOVE this one!

Yes I still love them. I rarely buy them though. I just don't think about them but like you I remember my high school days. Also, Smarties was high on the list back then too.

This sounds really good. One question though, does the milk dud get really sticky chewy again once the cookies cool?
