Pills found outside school.

My son returned home from school yesterday. It said that a child had found an orange tablet outside the school and brought it in to show their friends. Luckily there was only one and the teacher saw and took it off them. The school were amazing in the way they handled it, they got advice from the local pharmacy that it was a very low dose antibiotic and even if a few were eaten it would be unlikely to harm a child. They called a school assembly and explained the dangers etc etc. And a letter was sent home. But what got me, was why would someone not pick up a dropped tablet and dispose of it appropriately? Especially outside a school were children as young as 2 attend! Why are people so irresponsible or careless of the consequences of their actions? Perhaps this is common sense you develop after having children?

OMG I would have been so upset about something like this . I am so paranoid about losing a pill and somebody else finding it and picking it up especially a little child who might think it was a candy and try it . The school was really efficient in the way they handled the matter but it is still a scary thing to think that some one was so careless .

Maybe they didn't know they had dropped it? I know that sometimes I have loose pills floating around in my purse and I may have dropped them on the ground before without knowing it.

I think you certainly become more aware of these kinds of things when you have kids. And I have also become more aware of allergies and things like that as I have a friend with a child with a serious nut allergy. It could of course have been that the person who dropped it didn't realise.

I think that its a sense that you developping after having a child because almost all of the people even if they see something they are too lazy to do something about it or to tell someone. Did you say its school for 2 years old kids?,never heard of something like that i'm happy no one got hurt.. especially your son..
