We love homemade bread around our home. We love regular as well as the fruity and gormet breads. I am always tweaking recipes to find that perfect loaf of bread. This wonderful recipe used buttermilk as the secret ingredient to flavor. It is very important to make sure that you bake this loaf long enough or the bread will fall in the middle. This bread it great warm or cold but I think I prefer it when it is cold. Your family will love it and it is so much more frugal to make your own verses purchasing it. It also has more flavor than commercial made bread This recipe will make 2 loaves or 5 mini loaves Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread 4 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1/2 cup vegetable oil 2-1/2 cups sugar, divided 2 cups buttermilk 2 eggs 1 Tablespoon cinnamon 1 to 2 Tablespoons finely chopped walnuts or pecans In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. In a small bowl, combine oil and 1-1/2 cups of the sugar. Add buttermilk and eggs; mix well. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fill two greased 8"x4" or five 5"x3" loaf pans about one-third full. Combine cinnamon & remaining 1 cup sugar ; sprinkle half over the batter. Top with remaining batter and cinnamon-sugar. Swirl batter with a knife. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 350 for 45 to 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool completely.

I love the bread making recipes as it about the only thing I bake. This one seems delicious and I can almost smell the cinnamon as I love anything with cinnamon added. It's on my list of things to do at the weekend. Thanks for posting it.

We all love to make bread at my house and it is so much better for you. At least when you make it yourself you know what is in it. And it tastes way better than store bought and more filling i find. We like many different types but our favorite is traditoinal brown bread. I have a bread maker which the kids love to use but i also like the traditional hands on method to make bread too. i have never tryed the kind you metioned but i will sounds really good.

I would have to make this by substituting the buttermilk with sour milk. My husband hoards the buttermilk for himself! This sounds like a great breakfast bread. It would also be great for French toast! Thank you for the recipe!

I have never made anything with buttermilk before. But this sounds good. I'm going to have to start a shopping list and send the other half to the store. I'm almost certain that Mr Fussypants will eat this one. Thanks.

Thanks for the recipe. Here's my trade-off: Blueberry Cheese Rolls Ingredients: 1 pkg. (8 oz.) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls 4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened 2 Tbsp. sugar 1/2 cup blueberries, divided Directions: PREHEAT oven to 375ºF. Unroll dough into four rectangles; firmly press perforations together to seal. COMBINE Cream cheese and sugar; spread onto dough rectangles to within 1/2 inch of edges. Top evenly with blueberries. Bring opposite corners of rectangles together; press together to seal. Place on ungreased baking sheet. BAKE 11 to 13 min. or until golden brown. Substitutions: Substitute 1/2 cup chopped red or green apples and 2 Tbsp. raisins for the blueberries. Substitute Neufchatel Cheese for Cream Cheese.

Love the recipe villageanne, I LOVE to bake bread. My family thinks I'm a nut because I had rather bake bread than buy the breads at the grocery. I bake hamburger buns, Challah, Sweet rolls, and anything else. I bake biscuits all the time. I love to bake bread. Your recipe is a good one.
