I hope to not injure any feelings, but to state my own observations and concerns. Used to be when I would think of the Philippines I would get the idea that the people are beautiful both inside as well as pleasing to the eye, such a stunningly beautiful people, as lovely as the land they possess. All those whom I have met with a Philippino heritage (mostly from military friendships) have been very decent and honorable people. Then I come to mylot, and I begin to get some mixed impressions. .... and this is where I fear I may injure some feelings....I began seeing so many s*mutty posts the majority of which seem to come from this lovely people, that I always was impressed as being faithfilled and honourable. Is it how the people for the most part have become? or is it this forum attracts a large amount of people who act that way - but they do not really represent the country as a whole? It has really been weighing on my mind and heart pretty heavy these last few days. I think it must be scandalous to the others keep away from posting the impure topic postings. And I have come across several like that, to my great joy. I worry that some of the people are posting the way they do in hopes of generating many responses to gain a little more pennies in their account. It seems like selling yourselves and it makes me so very sad. I am getting choked up just writing this. I would like to help in what small way I can, but I can not bear to read the posts let alone reply to them. :( surely there is more value to you wonderful people than to the number of impure topics that can be thought of to post. Why not make posts about your country and your people, I would be very interested to learn of them. Please?

First, I want to remind you that you should never generalize no matter how many people from one group or country do the same thing because you would be jeopardizing the innocent ones. If I will base my judgment on Americans or Australians on their ancestors who first settled in the country they now call "theirs", it wouldn't be a good one. It's a pity that you get a discouraging impression on "my fellow Filipinos" here at mylot, but I think it was not judicial and modest on your part.

thank you for your reprimand. I gave you a positive rating for it. Please notice that I was not painting a broad picture, just made an observation and even stated that I have come across many who were not like that. I deeply apologize if you find me to be immodest, as that is quite contrary to how I aim to be in my life as well as my postings. thank you again.

"DO YOU WANT TO BE FILIPINO?" well that was my first post here at mylot... it has been bothering me for sometime... there are a lot of problems with out country and no one seems to be taking the blame...take this for instance, the vendors on the sidewalks dont wanna be reprimanded... they say "why us?" there are a lot of criminals out there.. "why us?" they might also say, since they might just petty thieves and wish us to all look at the big fishes who are most often than not, "respected" government officals... no one seems to be taking the blame. no one seems to feel responsible for the way we, as a country, turned out to be... everyone just wants to escape. so i asked the question... if you reincarnate and given the chance to choose your nationality, what would be your choice? would you still prefer to live the way we do? i will... you might. but if we ask that to poor families who survive with P36.00 a day..we might get a more interesting answer...

It seems to be epidemic in this part of the world too. It might take a miracle to get things right again. What is P36?

In every nation, there are the good lots and the bad lots; those who obey and those who rebel. i think that since the birth of our nation, there are those who do not conform to the standards and norms of the society. But what i see today is that we are starting to lose our culture, values and norms. i guess because the trend today is globalization and we tend to acquire all the habits and norms of other cultures, including those of their bad lots. And this just aggrandize and aggravate our own bad lots. But the posts may not be representative of who a person really is. posting in the internet may just be a way of some to vent out anger, to be licentious because they may not be like that in real life, or to let their hair down. Anyway, as long as no one is hurting any one, let them be.
