The best cure will always be to listen to him.

It is very tricky to handle a case of Depresed person/friend. He must be talked, in length, so that he narrats his reservations, doubts and phobias. He must be explained with related examples to make him realize that it is once own strength that helps in winning over the situations.Like one has to breath himself to stay alive. Brooding cannot help. Breathing exercise in Yoga will also help. Pulsating pressures on the middle of wrists will help him medically. Medicines are normally temporary reliefs. Depresssions cases can be handled by Hypno-therapists.

My mom suffered from depression a lot. I guess the best thing you can do is me there for them and listen to what they are saying, but do not judge them. Try to get their mind focused on something else, like the other person said...take them someplace special like a movie or restaurant. But don't force them to go. Just having someone to listen to them sometimes really helps.

depends on how depressed is the person. If mild depression you can ask the person to go out with you and have fun. you can watch movies or introduce some new things to do. you can also eat out.. and meet some new friends
