I know a few people who know more than one language. In fact, they know five or six different languages and that amazes me. They don't live in the United States however, many of them are from Europe where countries are interrelated. Here in America English and Spanish are the top two languages and many people don't even know Spanish that much. In fact, from my experience most Americans don't really know anything much past English. But we don't have to either, that's probably the primary reason. I could learn German, buy why would I want to? If I am never going to go to Germany then what would learning German do for me? People in Europe however live so close to different countries that it's alot different for them. Being that they probably see Germans, Italians, Greeks, Portuguese and so on the list goes. I my self know English and have been learning Spanish for the past year. I am getting better at it but I don't always have alot of time to learn it unfortunately. How many languages do you know? :-P

I know Hindi, English, Bhojpuri and Bangla. All the languages except English are the national languages of my country. I also knew Sanskrit but due to lack of practice forgot a little bit.

I know quite a few languages. I know my Nepali, Newari, Hindi and English language. I learned the two languages of my country Nepali and Newari in my house. I learned Hindi language recently by watching a lot of Indian films. I was taught English at a very young age at school because English is one important language to learn.

I can speak both japanese and english but as I've lived in UK so long and live speaking english and only people I speak japanese to are my parents and grandparents it's starting to get a bit rusty- it's quite hard to keep a language you never use!

Sadly, only English. I do know a few sentences and phrases in Spanish and Yiddish, but that's the extent of it. Wish I knew more.

I speak spanish and english fluently and know sign language. I have to communicate with my mom in spanish and english is my everyday. Sign I learned while I was growing up because my next door neighbor couldn't hear and I wanted to play with her. I felt it was a good thing. Many people don't think about it much.

I know a tiny bit of other languages but not enough to speak fluently. I am from the US. I guess we are just not taught to learn other languages like other countries. i took French in school so I know a little of that. I picked up Spanish from all my Mexican friends. I learned some Japanese from my son. My on line friends have taught me a few German and Swedish words. But basically English is my language. I have heard it is becoming the universal language.

My mother language is English, my second mother language is Indonesian. If some ask wasn't that reversed, i'll say nope. Because my English is better than my Indonesian. In spite of those two, i speak Dutch, Javanese, and Japanese, and currently i'm pushing my self to learn korean.

My first language is Chinese and English is my second. I am so so at both. And when I went to Montreal, I was interested to listen to French. Therefore I bought a book to learn French. It is amazing to meet many talent people and listening to their talking about 4 or more languages during my travel. I did hope I could be one of them; but so far it is not easy. I am feeling chinese is quite a different language from all the others so it is not easy to grasp any of those made of alphabet.
