Have you ever fostered dogs?

I found a stray dog and in the process of working with the pound to find her a home, became involved in fostering. I have fostered a number of different breeds, and all of them have gone on to find really lovely homes. These were all great dogs that just needed someone to take a chance on them, and a halfway house to put them up in the meantime. Does anyone else do this or have any interest in trying?

My boyfriend and I have 3 large dogs and we have tried fostering in the past when we just had 2 large dogs. We may try again at some time in the future, and I'm investigating starting a Doberman Rescue League in the area. I love Dobies as they are quite misunderstood as are Rotties. All of our dogs have been "pound puppies" and that's the way it will always be in this household. I think fostering is a great way to find loving homes along with taking the burden off of the pound. Good luck to you and I'm sure you will find that stray a lovely home.

Hi and thank you. If you look in the photo section you may notice a Dibie mix named Freya. She was one of my fosters that has gone on to live with a family in Kent, England. All my girls have been rescued from a local pound, sussed out by me, and then sent over to England where they are placed in a permanent home. As soon as my photo limit allows I will share more photos of my foster girls. They are all brilliant dogs.

I am on the list at the local shelter, but have not been called as of yet. I would love to foster a dog or cat.I believe that it is only with the help of the community that the shelter can do what it does. Most of the fosters here are pregnant or orphaned pups and kittens. That would be great. I love all pets, except hamsters, Want one?

My aunt has but the problem is when it is time to find dogs she always keeps them. She's one of those people the Humane Society calls when they have certain breeds in and she always takes them.
