Do they have a stronger nose than male? can they smell things that male cant? alot of time i go some where i would get female saying that they can smell food on me ( i work in a restauant) but i cant smell it myself, so it is true that they can smell it better than male can with their nose?

On standard tests of smelling ability – including odour detection, discrimination and identification – women consistently score significantly higher than men. Some researchers have claimed that the superior olfactory ability of females is evident even in newborn babies. In real life I think that men has stronger smelling ability, because they can easy remember woman by smell and perfume.

It is a fact that women's smelling sense is better. They have more olfactory nerve ends in their nose. This is a scientic fact. Except me. Unfortunatelly my smelling sense is very bad. Usually I can not smell anything, even the smell of socks. Maybe it sounds funny but I can not smell the gas neither. I can not smell when something is burned in the oven. etc.. I can not smell the flowers neither. Only sometimes. But when I can smell I am so happy, that you would never imagine. Because I like the smells, fragrances, and it always makes me sad, that I can not smell parfumes neither, usually. I think if you work in a restaurant men also smell the food on you, but they do not say... You can not smell yourself, because you used to smell it. Your nose is full with the smell of the food. Usually the none of the people smell himself...sometimes they should :) A few years ago I had a collegue (woman) who has terrible smell. Even I noticed it..!

yea i am sorry about you not smelling the flowers, and you cant smell perfume, and cant smell the dirty socks, need to tell your boyfriend to keep you out of the kitchen than if you cant smell the gas or burn food, dont want you to burn anything you know.

I don't think it is a male or femal thing, but some people has stronger sense of smell than others for sure. In your case it is because you are used to the smell of food, that's why you can't get it. If you are getting a smell all the time after some time it will no longer be a smell for you.

I don't know if us women have a better sense of smell but I do know that my boyfriend works in a restaraunt kitchen and I can tell which position he worked that night by how he smells. Also, right after I had my son all smells were amplified so the smell of his deoderant used to make me ill. You probably can't smell it on yourself because you're saturated with that smell at work and are used to it.

Often times I wonder that myself and think maybe it's a hormonal thing that gives us heightened senses of smell. I think also that maybe with men, they're so preoccupied with what they are doing that they tend to tune out different things, or ignore different odors. If you smoke, your sense of smell is off from that. I know when my daughter comes home from working at the restaurant, I can tell if she worked the cash register all day, or worked as a waitress. With waitressing she has to go into the kitchen where they're frying food and all, and the scent lingers and is much stronger.

I think it's just the person who has stronger sense than others. He or she was just born with it, not necessarily gender thing. How far was she from you when she said she smelled it? I know someone who thought a certain smell is some fragrance while it is actually a pedicure cream! I guess if the person eats certain food then she knows it is food smell also.
