Those of you who follow my posts will remember that I mentioned awhile ago that the boyfriend came home from his parents with a bunch of groceries to help tide us over until we got some money in. His mom sent us out a big can of Maxwell House coffee. I'd never tried it before because I'm a foldger's fan but it was given so I wasn't going to complain. It turned out being so good. I have a new favorite coffee. Well, yesterday I went grocery shopping and instead of buying folger's I bought a big can of maxwell house. I made up a pot as soon as I got home and when I had a cup it wasn't as good as it had been. I compared the cans and discovered that I'd boughten original roast and the can that the boyfriends mom sent over was dark roast. I didn't realize that there was such a big difference in the flavour between the two. I'll be remembering now and sticking to Dark Roast. At least I will once this can of original roast is gone.

I think it's a mistake we all made, in buying the wrong thing. I guess this batch you got is not REALLY good to the last drop. I, too am a Folgers fan when it comes to instant coffee, as many of the others like Taster's Choice, Maxwell House, Chock full o' Nuts, Nascafe', they all seem to have that bitter taste that requires the use of more sugar. Some of them are also more expensive. Anyway, why don't you invite everyone over for coffee to get the wrong stuff used up faster?

Maybe to help it be more pleasant, try getting hot chocolate mix, maybe something like Nestle's Quik or some other powdered chocolate & adding it to the bad coffee. Just a thought.

Hmmm.. I never thought of adding chocolate to it. I have a bottle of hazelnut flavouring that I bought on sale when our local grocery store had a renovation sale. I wasn't as fond of it as I thought I'd be and that's what I've been trying to use to bribe the girls into coming over for coffee but they don't like it much more than I do.. LOL..

I`ve tried the different roasts before but I never really noticed a difference. I guess you are a dark roast coffee drinker.

We prefer the dark roast over the other types. The bold flavor is best. We tried to compensate when we had other types by adding more coffee, but the result was just a strong and bitter brew.

It's a very easy mistake to make. Taht's why I look closely at the can before I replace it with a new one. I hate buying the wrong thing...one of the most annoying things that ever happens to me, and thankfully not that often.
