Online Gambling... Should it be legalized or kept illegal?

United States

Hey guys and girls! I just wanted to see what you guys think about online gambling. I know that the UIGEA Act was passed last year, but do you personally think that online casinos, online poker rooms and online sportsbooks should be illegal and banned by all US players or should there be a legalization of online gambling in the US. There are many pros and cons to this argument. I want to give my personal opinion to start the discussion. I feel that given the terrorism in the US in recent years, it can be seen as a protective measure from transfering fund for illegal reasons. However, I feel that the US would make tons more money if they had all of the casinos in the USA put up online casinos websites. I think it would be a great idea that would make money for the country and send the online gambling industry through the roof. They could even sell turnkey casinos to people who are looking to start an online venture and this would in itself make you a ton of money. The downside is people become addicted and that is not cool. Alright, I will stop and make you guys and girls share your thoughts. I'll reply to all of your opinions with my continued opinion! petriellog2

Online Gambling has been a worldwide industry. So, wheter US govt. will legalized it or not it doesn't matter. Who could ever denied tons of money transferred into your bank account. Wooow....:)

mandachow, thanks for the reply! I definitely agree. There are sites up right now that continue to provide gambling services. I feel that they will be the ones who make a stand and will help US get back on their feet and back in the casinos. petriellog2

Well first let me say that upon joining this site I did a similar discussion, and got mixed feed back. :) I'm all for online gambling probably because I won quite a large amount of money last year on my first time playing. Beginners luck. No I don't think it should be illegal and believe that the main reason for it being illegal is the government isn't getting their share. They figure if they aren't getting theirs then we can't have it either. I don't think that the government should tell me where I get to spend my hard earned money, or decide for me what entertainment is illegal. I earned it and if I want to gamble I should be allowed, because of circumstances I can't always just go to a casino. In the comfort of my own home, I should be allowed to entertain myself how I choose. I believe that in the end that it will be made legal with limitations because the money from taxes benefits the government. The only con is making sure that your children don't have access to the sites, one way of doing that is not excepting credit cards or debit cards, this way they have to be linked to a bank account, that does limit most children. They should also ask for all documentation prior to allowing you to gamble, picture I.D., utility bill, email address, bank info for wire transfers ect.... This of course is just my 2 cents worth as always. I know that many don't agree, my thoughts on that are then don't gamble at online sites. Just because some people aren't for it, doesn't make their opinion right it's just their opinion. :)
