Suicide.....Do suicide failed go to jail... for attempted suicide?

Suicide...it's a crime/illegal to attempt a suicide. If someone is successful in attempt,then no problem, that person is beyond the reach of the law. But what about those who failed? Do they get punishment for the attempt? Do they go to jail for attempted suicide? I've read many times in newspaper about suicide attempts, but never read about such punishment for the same...! Do they really get...?
