RESPECT, reminds me of a campaign that my friend who was a professor in our university started. In his words, respect artist's space, opinion and expression. Very true indeed, respect is all about accepting other people's space, thoughts and means of expression. But in a much more common sense, it is basically viewed as gratitude and manners towards elders, which I agree is very very important, I do not believe that as the world becomes more and more modernized we should put aside this very basic act of respect. Being respectful goes a very long way. And I certainly agree that at this date and time, people especially children are not as respectful as children brought up in the past generations, is it because parents are being more lenient in their behavior? I am not very certain, but there was this time when every child knows that respecting elders is very very essential. I do not know how kids today get away with talking back to even their parents. Societies change, technology modernizes but the core value should forever be instilled in the minds of all generations.

Respect I believe is a neccesity in this life time although there are some people that lack it, I think that every individual carries with them a certain percent of respect in every aspects of there life. You do have to respect yourself for who you are before you can carry that on and show respect to others.I personally think that respect is taught when you are young and if you are not taught it then you will more than likely be in the group that shows no respect for anything but themselves..I see this group growing and it is scary.

LOL I was gonna ask you if you were here posting because HB is down :P haha Okay, respect. I think it's the most important thing in the world. That an empathy. The thing about respect is, first you have to respect yourself before you can respect others. We have to be mindful of others' opinions, views and always try to see it from their point of view first. I think that when people jump to conclusions, that's a form of disrespecting others too.

Respect, well i think i do, or at least i try to make sure i do have it. Its important to me because i would also be liked to treated with respect too- who wouldn't anyway? and I would really appreciate it if i would be given respect. Well personally, yes i think that some people these days lack respect- since people today are so consumed with their "freedom of speech" , sometimes i think they tend to overlook respect- sometimes i think that because of the primordial need to be spontaneous and because they just wanna say what in their minds- impulsively, they fail to recognize the effects of their statements to others which seems disrespectful to the ones affected by their remark.

Respect is not really understood because respect isnt about me it is about how I respect the world and others in it. It isnt how I view what others do to me but how I treat others. I cant expect others to treat me better than I treat them or the ones they see me react to.

Respect is VERY important to have for everyone to have.....not only for people but for 'things' too.....now a days, there is less and less respect everywhere you look, young or old,it doesn't matter.....I've seen it so much where a young teen will be hanging around the coffee shop and the 'older' men and women sit around putting down the way they are dressed, the way they talk or the way they seem to have been raised.....I hear all the time, the older people complaining about how the younger generation have no respect for their elders but I think to myself.....why would they?THey aren't being shown respect by the elders so why return.....I was always told by my parents to 'respect my elders' and always followed that rule but now a days,at 40 years old,I don't see it coming from anyone,anywhere......
