Why do some foster parents abuse the system.

I know here in my area they are very strict with foster care and check on the kids all the time. It is very hard to even become a foster parent. I know some people just do it for the money and they must get in the system from friends or relatives. Children should never have to settle for this type abuse no matter what the situation.

My eldest brother was fostered by my mum and she took better care of him than she did the rest of us. He was always her blue eyed boy. But I know what you are talking about. I had a neighbour who fostered a little boy. She allowed him to run wild on the streets when he was only six years old and all the other children were terrified of him because he would bully them. She would also go into town and leave him on his own on the streets, saying he would be ok with the other kids. She was reported on quite a few occasions and nothing was ever done about it. I can't understand how these people are allowed to foster children.

I was adopted after being in a foster home for almost a year. I do not remember anything like this nor have I heard of anything like this. I'm sure that what you are talking about is a rare case since the government is supposed to thoroughly screen the foster parents and home.
