My baby is turning one soon. She's changed so much since I brought her home. I want to throw my cat a birthday party. My mom thinks I'm dumb. Other people say they have thrown their animal a party before and that it was a fun experience. Have any of you ever had a birthday party for your pet?I already have pink napkins and streamers for her party(In April.) I'm going to serve her fancy cat food with a candle ro something.. cheesy I know but she's the only baby I'm having for a while.

Okay, i've never thrown my animals a birthday party, but how many people out there buy their pet a little something extra around christmas? Forget what your mom thinks, tell her any reason to celebrate anything in this day and age, should be taken, and enjoyed. Whether it's champagne thursday or throwing your cat a party, enjoy it.

I personally haven't but I've known many who have. I have given my pets a birthday gift, usually a toy mouse or a new chew toy depending on the pet. It sounds like she's very special to you. so long as she won't mind the extra attention then I don't see why it would be a problem.

i say go for it , any excuse for a party. a lot of people treat their pets like children and would you miss out on a party for your child?. no. so have a good one.

I would have never thought to do that. My children were the ones to come up with having a birthday party for our cat. My son asked why we celebrate everyone who is in the family, but not Munchkin? I told him I never thought of doing that. So we do celebrate our cats birthday with just our immediate family. It is fun and the kids really enjoy doing it.

Do you mind if I ask what you do for the birthday? Its really just me and the cat..I want a baby(so yeah I go overboard with the kitty spoiling).. Was it a "real" party, with cake and such.. or did you just aknowledge the cat with some treats?

It's not dumb. I have gave my cat a Birthday Party it was so much fun. I baked a cake out candles on it and the cat wore the party hat, I took pitures of it. I have always treat my pets like they are my kids.

No disrespect intended to your mother, but she doesn't know what she's talking about.Personally,I have never thrown a party for animals-although you have given me something to think about-but I have heard of people doing it and there's not a darn thing wrong with it.

You have to have a party. Make a cake for yourself, thats what we do. Then we buy the babies a toy :)

your cat is very adorable. how i wish i could keep a cat in the house but my mom is allergic to them so cats are a no-no inside the house. we do have dogs. when my pug turned 1yr old i threw him a dog party. i invited everyone i knew who had pets with them it was so much fun...!

There is nothing wrong with wanting to celebrate the addition of your fur-baby to your home on her birthday! Although I never did that for Luka, he gets gifts at Christmas. My family has always had a Christmas stocking hung for our cats and it gets filled with new toys, catnip and some yummy treats. So I say, have the party! :-)
