Baby Names

Hello, my name is Melinda, and I'm a baby name addict. It seems like I have a million lists made up of names I'd like to name my future (way, way into the future) kids. When people in my family become pregnant, I'm always the first to ask what their naming the baby, and if they haven't decided yet, well, I always have a ton of suggestions. And I've been caught more than a few times copying names out of Parenting magazines at the Doctor's office. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not all baby obsessed, I use all these names to name characters in the stories I write. Is there anyone else out there who shares my "addiction?" What's your favorite names? What did you name your kids? Or even your animals? Why did you choose these names? What's its meaning? Thanks!

I'm with you all the way - I've been a complete naming addict since I was a little kid. Like you, I'm always the first to ask what the baby's name will be when someone announces a pregnancy - although I thought I would NEVER come up with a name for my own child. We finally settled on Rachael Anna Grace - my husband is so picky, but finally confessed to liking Rachel, but I chose the spelling Rachael. Anna is for my grandmother, and Grace has a significant meaning for us. So we finally got that straight, but you'll notice that I couldn't narrow it down to just ONE middle name...! :) I've already decided that if we have another little girl, her name will be Amelia, although we can't agree on a middle name...and if it's a boy, I'll have a hard time narrowing down my list of favorites. Do you belong to any online baby name message boards? The most popular one, I'd guess, is Babynames.com, but I personally would not recommend it. I belong to a private board that is wonderful if you'd like the link - there are lots of moms but also younger girls (your age) with a teen board as well as naming boards. Any of them would be lots of fun for discussing names, though.

Yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one!:-) Rachael Anna Grace is such a pretty name. My dad was also picky when naming me, so my parents decided that if I was a girl, he would name me, and if I was a boy, my mom would name me. Of course, I was a girl, and my dad name me Melinda Renee. I like it, although I've become more into the so-called unusual names. No, I am not a member of any baby name boards, but I'd love to be! Do you mind sending me a link? Here are some of my favorite names (in case you're interested):Girls: Emerald (called Emma or Emmie) Magnolia (called Nolee) Raelyn (pronouced RAY-LEN) Brynlee (pronouced BREN-LEE) Aubrielle or Aubriella Reanna (pronouced REE-ANNA) Korianne or Korianna Ellison (called Ellie) Rayne or Rain (used for a middle name) McKenna McKenzie Taylor Parker The list is way too long to continue!!Boys: Jorryn (pronouced JOR-EN) Alexander or Alec Zander(called Alex or Alec) Nickolas (called Nick) Aidan Evan Kaden Avery Braden (pronounced BRAY-DEN) Lake (as middle name) Jordan

Oh, my name list just got a little bigger! I love the name Ava (and a lot more you have on there). Do you find you have better luck finding girl names you like rather that boys? I know I do! :-) I can't wait to get the link. I'm excited now.

Me, too, Melinda....I've always been completely obsessed. I remember creating families in my mind while doing chores around the house as a child. I never knew there were other people like me...lol. Since then I've found out there are many, many of us. Coincidentally I've never had any children, but I think it would be extremely difficult for me to choose a name.
