I saw this question in a book I was reading and wondered how all of you would answer this. "Why do parents have such trouble raising tweens and teens?"

It's been so long since they've experienced the emotions that young people go through. They also don't view their teenagers problems as "real" problems because they have their own "real" problems. Most parents also no absolutely squat about psychology so they are really shooting blind. Parents really should take some parenting classes the minute they know they're having a child. Learn something about how kids think since they obviously can't remember.

I don't think any class can prepare you for everything your child will throw at you. The children of today are not much different than we were. The big difference is, that we all work 50 hours a week, so they are fending for themselves and we are exhausted when we get home, so there is less communication between the generations. Yes, we all have digital equipment to keep us connected, but there is no heart to heart talks or true listening on either part, everyone is pre-occupied with something else. Thank your for your reply.
