What would you keep?

Pretend for a moment that you have been told you have to give up all of the furniture in your home. You will only be allowed to keep one piece of furniture? What would you keep and why?

I would keep the bed. I feel terrible when I have to sleep on the floor or the couch. The bed could be used as seating for company as well a place to get a good nights sleep. You could spread a sheet on it and have a place to eat with a picnic setting. So many uses with the bed.

Well my first thought was to keep my bed. But then I decided I would keep my couch instead. That way I would have a place to sit and entertain, watch tv, eat etc. And I could sleep on it at night. Boy it sure would look funny in this house with nothing but a couch..lol

My rocking chair. It is Amish made and so comfortable and usable. It calms me and I can take care of correspondence etc while rocking. It is sturdy and appealing so that would have the be the one and only piece that I would pick for the single piece of furniture allowed.

Definitely my bed. Or any other bed for that matter. Assuming that I still get to keep the house, I'd want a bed to sleep on. I'm not a floor person at all and can never sleep on the floor as I find it very painful.

Does my laptop count as a piece of "furniture"? :) If not, and you mean an actual large piece of furniture then I would say my entry way table. I do not really have any furniture right now that I'm attached to. I want to get all new stuff soon so if I had my way, just about everything would go and I'd replace it with nicer stuff. I love my entry table because it is in well made in pine and has a piece of glass in the middle, a small shelf underneath and holds my pictures nicely on display. It's the first thing you see when you come in the front door and I love it.

The bed, I need to be comfortable when I sleep, I can sit on the bed and if it is against the wall I have support when I sit so I can sit there and do things from the bed such as reading, etc. But I would not find the same comfort sleeping on the couch, or kitchen table, and with out a good nights sleep eventually I would become so worn out, irritable, and likely even so run down that I became ill, so I would have to say the bed. So that I could have a comfortable good nights sleep. I can be adapable about the rest.

I would probably keep the dresser that came from Germany when my family emigrated from there in the mid 1800's. This dresser has been passed down for many generations within my family. They just don't make furniture like that anymore, plus I love the history behind it.

WOW! That must be so special for you! Something that has been in your family for over 200 years! Awesome.

I am not sentimental about any of the furniture in my house, but I know that the barstools mean a lot to my husband, so I would choose to keep one of them for him. We bought our house from his grandparents and there is a very long bar with custom made barstools all the way down it. I know it would mean a lot to him to keep at least one of those, and so it would mean a lot to me for him to have it.

That is so sweet that you want to keep something for your husband! I bet those stools are gorgeous being custom made!

I would have to keep my bed! It would act as my couch, table, bench, and just plain resting area. I do not do well on the floor! Even my kids like to pile onto my bed! And i am sure that not all of them would opt to share a bed...but the little ones certainly would!

I would keep my bed. I have a really comfortable mattress! I find that if you have a good night's sleep you can deal with just about anything that the day presents to you. I don't think that I would be able to sleep well and soundly on a couch or in a chair.

My bed. I like to read on my bed, sleep on it, sit on it, lay on it, even eat on it. I can do just about everything on this one piece of furniture..

One of the couches we have has an absolute sweet spot in the corner of it. You get into that corner of it and you are asleep within 5 minutes (my wife and I are always fighting for that spot). I'd have to keep that and save an absolute fortune on ambien

I'm with nowment, I'd keep my bed. I need to be comfortable in order to sleep. Even though my ricking/reclinig chair is comfortable, it woulnd't be good for my back. With my back problems, I need to pay attention to these kinds of details. I'm just curious though, how would one end up in this situation? It's probably you being crazy again, huh?

Yup! Rather than think about useful things, I tend to sit and contemplate weird crap such as this! You know what they say, "tis a fine line...."!

Oh yes it is! I like your sense of humor. I tell people that if it weren't for my sense of humor, I'd have no sense at all! It usually gets some laughs. Pretty good ice breaker too.

I would love to say my bed. It is a great bed,it has a gre at new mattress. But I would have to choose between my Grandmother's organ and her sewing machine and the sewing machine would win because it was her mother's. I really really would miss my bed but I would have to save GRam's sewing machine.

It would be a very hard decision, because al my furnitures are quite new! I bought them because I needed them very very much! But if you ask this, I have to choose.... I think I would keep the double bed, because a bad sleeping always make your day bad. And our double bed is realy comfortable.

It would have to be my sofa!! Friday nights, duvet night, no one is to disturb me!! I love the sanctury of my sofa. It has even molded into my shape!! I would let everything else go no problem. No more polishing the shelving units or the table, TV on the floor, minimalism, yes I could live with that!!!!!

Since we're only talking furniture then this would be an easy choice. I would pick my bed. I sleep on my bed, use the laptop on my bed, eat on my bed and I don't really use any other furniture. I could put my clothes in boxes so no need for a dresser. lol. Put the TV on the floor.
