Does Your Skin Itch?

I remember when my kids had the chicken pox, we would put oats inside the feet of panty hose and put them in the bath water to keep them from iching. This works for dry skin also. Oats and milk are both great in the bath. This recipe is great to use when you want to just soak and relax. It will soften skin and help dry skin from iching. This homemade Oatmeal Milk bath feels so good. It is frugal to make and to give as gifts. 1 cup cornstarch 2 cups powdered milk 1/2 cup oatmeal Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl before transferring to a decorative bottle. Attach a gift tag with these directions: "Oatmeal Milk Bath" Add a generous amount to warm water running bath water. Soak, reax and enjoy. I like to put mine in little cheese cloth pouches so the pouch can just be tossed into the water and you dont have all those oats floating around. You can grind the oats up and eliminate this problem too. I make these for my niece, she has really bad dry skin and it keeps her from iching all day. She uses it once a day. I also like to add honey to my bath water. I even add it to my puppys bath water. I keeps his fur soft and fluffy. I just take about a tablespoon full and dissolve it under the running water.

This is very interesting information as I have never heard of this method to help with itchy skin. I usually use benadryl lotion to help with my skin when it itches. Thank you for sharing this information. Another great recipe that I could certainly use and hopefully it will help.

Thank you so very much for the tip.I have very dry skin this winter,I've been using baby oil and Vaseline I'm still having problems.I can't use any commercial oils or lotions as I have a lot of allergies.hopefully this will work for me.I will have to get some skim milk powder as I don't think you meant creamer or whitener

Powder milk works best as it dont sour when you have it stored already mixed.

A lot of my family have eczema and have always had oats in a bag hanging on the tap to help it heal, luckily no-one at my house has it but we still use oats occesionally to keep our skin nice because we all have sensitive skin. Thank you for sharing this with your friends here. Hoeny and essential oils are nice in the bath too.

That is a great idea to put the oatmeal in pantyhose! When my kids had chicken pox, my mother had me put oatmeal in their bath water and it made a horrible mess to clean up when they were done! I would have liked it a lot better if she would have told me to use pantyhose...and the kids would not have come out of the bath with oats stuck to their bodies. LOL

Just the thing for my mother. I've sent it to her. She's elderly and has diabetes and very dry skin, all leading to severe itching. In her sleep, she scratches her skin right off. It turns into infected rashes and causes her problems every winter especially. I hope the recipe works for her. Thanks for sharing it.
