Do I have to?

My friend is having a surprise birthday part tomorrow for his girlfriend. I do not know his girlfriend at all, I have only seen her once. Never have I spoke to her in person. I was wondering, do I have to get her a card? I do not even know her. If you were in my situation, would you get a card?

I would. Firstly, because if you are going to the party it would be a bit silly to ignore the reason for it. Secondly, it may be the first step towards a new friendship for both of you. I believe it's common practice to give a gift if you attend a party. I'd be giving something simple, practical and nice.

You are very true on that part, about going to the party and being the proper thing to do is bring a card. I still do not see the logic in buying a card. I have not hung out with my friend who is having the party in over 5 months because I have been soo busy. Only reason I am able to make this is because he gave me a month and a half advanced notice.

happy birthday - birthday card.
If you don't know her, then know, I don't think it is expected to bring a card. If I were having the birthday, and my friend brought her boyfriend, and even I had met him once before, I wouldn't expect him to give me a card.

Same with me, I wouldn't expect someone who I only met once to get me a card. I wouldn't even expect them to say happy birthday to me.

Ya i would because first of all i m going for someone's birthday party so its a social duty to give that person at least a card whether you know her or not, second its your friend girlfriend,he wants you to meet her girlfriend so its your duty not to embarass your friend by not giving anything to her
