Windows Vista does NOT comply with DELL PRINTERS!!!

United States

I have just gotten off of a chat session with a Dell Tech Support Representative, and I was told that the printer drivers for Windows Vista will not be out until April 2007. Until then, those of us who have Vista have to suffer with not having our printers!

This is only one of many horror stories associated with Windows Vista. The compatability issues are outrageous for a retail operating system. I have been a solid fan of Microsoft and Windows for a long time, but I cannot support their decision to release a version of Windows with so many problems.

We are not going to be given much choice as Microsoft reduces choices and the new manufacturers include vista only.

That is what happened to me. I was not given much of a choice, I had to get Windows Vista.

I'm surprised your printer doesn't work with one of the generic drivers that ship with Vista in the meantime.

My printer is an Dell A940 from 2003. It does not work with Windows Vista and I received this knowledge from Dell themselves.

That's just sad. I keep trying to tell people not to upgrade to Vista, but so many buy into the hype. You should ALWAYS do your research before upgrading your operating system. The best method is to download drivers for all your hardware and put them onto a CD so you will be ready to install everything at once. I'm dissapointed in Dell. HP has had printer drivers for Vista since October of last year when I was testing Beta 2.

Those that are 2006 and 2007 might, but the majority of them do not.

I think you are just at the tip of the iceberg. This is a travesty of microsoft making so much obsolete when they release a new operating system.

I know. Windows XP to me was a great system, but now that Windows Vista has come along it is like we are all being forced to convert to a new system.
