School Lunches. Who has trouble with this?

I have 3 children 7-11yrs old who I have trouble with regarding school lunches. If I buy items in our household shopping to make them lunches with they usually don't last in the pantry. Worse, the kids have individual tastes and many individual items come back uneaten. This only makes me worry about whether they are going hungry throughout the day. Ordering their lunches poses a similar problem. They only like a few items and I feel terrible that theyre eating the same things over and over. Sometimes I include a few special tidbits that are sweet or are processed (eg. a cream bun). I try to balance this by a double dose of fruit which they all love. However, when I do this I get reprimands from their teachers. Why am I finding school lunches such a trial? Are there any other parents out there spending their day worrying about what their child eats at school and are they getting enough? How would you tackle this seemingly easy issue?

I have the exact same problem. Certain items (like creme buns) are always eaten. hey will also eat winders and granola bars but I have to come up with something special to get them to eat sandwhiches. Usually a french roll or a baguette. They also like stir frys and casseroles just to mix it up a bit, as well as leftovers. Generally my kids are pretty good eaters, they just need variety.

Yeah sandwiches are the hardest. Nutella or peanut butter and jam/jelly are the only 2 that disappear. Again I don't like giving them the same ones but then rather ones that they eat than not eat. Compounding my problem is that 2 out of 3 do not eat their yogurts or dairy food anymore. Ive also tried every conceivable snack bar on the supermarket shelf. There are none with a consensus of at least 2 out of 3 who eat it. So as you can imagine I pretty much custom make each childs lunch. With older children and also preschool children to cater for as well aside from them this is a nuisance lol.
