My Cat won't meow for some reason. He can pur but rarely, and like he makes this weird whimpering sound occassionaly. We think he has avoice defect or something like that. he had a sister(but she died 10 days after we got her), and she ewas noisy.

Awe, how sad. Did you see a vet? Check her out. My cat snores, purrs, chirps, girgles, but never meows either.

Some cats make more noise then others. Maybe there is something wrong with his vocal cords? I wouldent stress about him not meowing, just be happy that hes not really loud hehe. Ive had cats that cant meow as well. But they are still loving and expressive all the same. Its just one of those things i figure. :)

Between our male and female, the female is much more vocal. He can meow but usually won't. He usually makes crazy dove noises.

Awww - well I don't think it is anything to worry about. My old cat, Clover, couldn't really miaow, - she just used to whimper, and make a strange squeaking noise occasionally, and she lived to be 18 years old! Get him to a Vet if you want to be sure, but as long as he is eating, and seems happy enough, I wouldn't worry too much.

It depends on the cat, my first cat rarely meowed. Like once in a blue moon. Yet the my cat now meows all the time even when you just look at her. Just because you cat doesn't meow does not mean there is anything wrong with it. He is just not very talkative.

one of my cats doesn't meow either. she opens her mouth and kinda squeaks, but can't meow. she's in great health and is very happy despite her lack of meowing-ness:)

We found a cat that did not meow. It was sad he would open his mouth but nothing came out. Nothing was wrong with him other than that. Then I have a male cat now that I had fixed and I can tell you, he does not meow the same now and I am not being funny either. I don't think it is anything to worry about, if anything try to look it up on line or call a vet. good luck
