I use to save all of those plastic containers then they began to be a pain and I had way too many. I usually throw them away now.

I usually throw the containers out. Good idea to save them around holiday time for family or friends to take home some of the food. You don't lose a bowl, and they can just throw it out when they are done.

I once heard a comedian do a bit about these. He said you know why God made margarine containers? So the poor people could have tuperware too. I thought it was funny.

Oh lordy, my husband CANNOT throw anything away. You should see how many margarine containers are in my garage. It is hidious. However, I will admit he often uses them for cleaning paintbrushes, pouring a small amount of paint into for touchups and other things. I won't have them cluttering the kitchen, but the garage is his domain.

I don't buy margarine as I prefer foil wrapped butter. If I buy any food that comes in plastic containers, I put them all in the recycling bin. I try to recycle as much as possibe in order to help combat global warming.

I personally keep most of the used margarine containers my other half & me have because I find they are perfect for storing various food items in the fridge. As well, my other half uses them to take lunch to work half the time when he has something to warm up. They are usually a good container to hold our leftovers in and they have yet to really break down or melt on us when we've put them in the microwave. I also will use them to hold various food items that I have to store in the pantry as well. Some of them require a sealed container and I will transfer such an item to one of those containers if need be. I know that we tend to transfer the big bags of sugars that we get in to one of these margarine containers. And it's probably one of the best decisions we had ever made to start doing this. I don't have to no longer worry about sugar getting all over the place.. As I find the sugar packages tend to leak everywhere for some reason.. Which can get rather annoying for me having to clean out the cupboard all the time due to the sugar being everywhere.. I believe if we did have too many margarine containers.. That I would begin to throw away the containers or at least recycle them. I wouldn't know what to do with them and holding on to them would just seem like a silly idea. I like using them for food storage because they are a very versatile container. I know I've got containers in the cupboard right now filled with pasta shells, sugar and my puppy's dog food. I have labeled all three of them so I don't get any of them mixed up and put dog food in my coffee in the morning. That would just be gross, yet quite funny afterwards I am sure though. haha. I think they are the most inexpensive and rather versatile container because you can almost out anything in them. You can even store craft items like beads or chains in them. I don't really do that myself, but if you need a way to get certain things within your house organized, just look towards those containers for a possible easy solution. They're cheaper than tupperware and just as good at keeping food fresh. I know that if I am wanting to find certain things that I seem to lose all of the time.. I will put these things in to a margarine container so I won't lose them all over again.. For example I seem to always lose the thread I have to sew mine & my other half's clothing.. Along with I tend to lose the needle to & end up poking myself each time when I am grabbing for something.. I find this helps to keep things so much more organized & I don't end up getting frustrated later on.. Just because I can't find what I am looking for at that particular moment. I know when my other half has to take leftovers for lunch the next day. After a large dinner I always look for a empty plastic container that we had left over from a tub of margarine to put some of them in. We don't really have any other containers that are meal sized and therefore we have to resort to using a margarine one. That way he could go ahead and take something he can warm up and nor have to worry about it dripping all over his back pack or something like that. I know it makes my life a lot easier when it comes to making my other halfs lunch.. As I don't have to worry about making sandwiches but can instead put left overs in these margarine containers without any fuss while doing so. I find margarine containers rather versatile & I know I plan on using them for all of the things I had listed above.. Or for any other things I may find them to come in good use for! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

I save the large ones. And some smaller ones. But my family does alot of berry picking in the summer time, And those conatiners are perfect to collect them in. We also have huge family gt togethers several times a year, and those containers are great to bring the food to the gathering place and then to take left overs home again. So for us its a good thing lol. I also save the large ones to use as storage, i put my sons crayons and markers in them, stickers, and assorted other toys in them. They stack nicely ect. I also use them for storage in the kitchen. I unload large bags of flour, sugar, and noodles into them. They even make good planter pots for plants. But again, i only buy large tubs not little ones hehe. The little tubs come from cottage cheese, yogurts, that sort of thing. I like to utalize the things i have on hand to save space.

I throw them away. Well more like recycle them. I just do not even think about keeping them to use at a later date, probably should though.

Oh gawd. As a gardener I save all such type containers. They are great to start seedlings in the house. I start with small ones like from individual servings of yogurt for the seeds. Then when they sprout to an inch or so I transplant them into half pound containers. Then to the pound containers. I use the yogurt cups, margarine, also food containers from delis. I just melt a couple small holes in the bottom with a hot nail set them all in a tray for drainage then they thrive like nothing else. A great cheap way to start seeds indoors without the added cost of seedling cups etc from the stores. Hope this sheds some light on another type of recycling. I have grown most my tomato grren peppers radishes, and other plants flowers etc in this manner.

I keep many empty containers (but not all) for different purposes like storing hardware stuff and tools, growing plants and seeds, carrying food out, etc

When I was growing up, my mother saved all the plastic containers. So, for the longest time, I would save the margarine tubs. I'm trying to learn to organize my life, and not saving everything in creation. lol So I now throw the margarine containers away. I have a nice set of plastic containers that fit perfectly in my cupboard, so I don't need margarine tubs cluttering up my kitchen.
