This is the recommended number and it is a long way to walk each day. when I was younger I used to walk to work and back and I lost loads of weight and toned up. It was not my intention, it was just public transport was not reliable and I can't drive. I would recommend walking if you can as good free excersise.

I too feel the same. Here in Europe, instead of shelling down around 60 euros a month on gym centres, its good to walk an hour or split into two 30 min walks and save the sum for something else. You will be fit and at the same time save some money by walking.

People tend to be lazy when it comes to their own fitness. And 10,000 steps certainly seem way too many. 10,000 is no small number. :P And they often come to grip with the need to exercise only when it is too late. :/
