Winter Safety For Kids

With all the snow, wind and cold temperatures, school has been closed alot this year. As a reasult of school closings, kids tend to be outside playing in the snow. Kids dont seem to care how cold it is when it comes to playing. Winter safety is an issue that I often think about on many different levels. There are lots of dangers involved in playing in the snow. I found this wonderful site that discusses the dangers of playing in the snow near the road. It talks about snowplows. You can find a safety games booklet available in English and French. They are in PDF downloadable format. Here is the link to the site http://www.sammysnowplow.ca/sammy.asp I hope you enjoy it and find info that will help to keep your children safe in the snow.

Oh wasn't that cute-- there are many dangers in playing outside in the snow- Frostbite from not dressing warm enough- or exposed skin.. Be sure your kids are bundled up-- even older kids. Especially if they are playing out for long periods of time. Broken bones-- Sledding and tubing gone crazy! i don't know how many times I myself have flipped over my tube- Luckily never broke any bones! Scratches- I've sledded right into bushes! Not fun! But I've never thought of snow plow safety! LOL... Then again we don't play near the road or street--- We have alot of land as we live in the country. But this is a great heads up for parents and kids who live in town and play near streets.

What did we ever do without all the tips for surviving childhood. Where are the parents to watch out for the kids. Do appreciate you sharing this information since it will probably help someone, somewhere. So glad we survived this natural, fun filled, occasional opportunity that helps to make us all what we are.
