Hi Friends I was wondering for a good book on java. i have seen several books but they are not satisfactory up to my level.
at last i got a book named as "head first" the presentation and the content of the book really amzing i have never seen before such type of book.

hey, u can try "SAMS Teach yourself in 21 days- JAVA". This will also be nice.
This series is available for other languages also.

Yes! U r right.Have u seen the advanced java versions of this book?I purchased one today that is on servlets and JSPs.and this one is also quite efficient.Really this book has an unique way of describing things which has made Java quite easy to learn

well i feel the good and prescribed book for java for both programmers and as wel students is herbert schildt "java complete reference".what u say?

Complete Reference is just a lookup book in my opinion.It helps u to look into methods quickly when required during coding but Head-first gives a detailed knowledge that thru very interactively.U can get the concept from it
