How often do you run yours? I ran mine today and found 3 serious alerts. I thought once a week would be enough, but I think if you´re connected to the Internet for a few hours each day it might not be. What do you think?

I was running mine whenever I thought about it. Not even once a week. You brought out great valuable info to us. Thank you for sharing it Dana. I'm giving you another + for your outstanding post. Bless you.

I have mine automatically set to run once a day and usually at night before going to bed. I think it is better to do it more than just once a week, especially if you are online often. You do not want spyware just sitting on your computer as it could cause more harm by leaving it there for a while in my opinion.

Thank you. That´s a good way of using an anti spyware. You´re right it does more harm by having the spyware just sitting there. I had a browser problem because of it today. Silly me.

Anti spyware programs should run continuously in the background in the same way that Antivirus programs do. It makes much more sense to use the program as a defence than to use it to remove the spyware after installation has been achieved.

Yes, that sounds logical. I´m short of funds though and the ones I´ve seen that run in the background are not free. Do you know of one?

I used to run them all just once a week, but now I do it 3 times a week, without fail. It seems that the more I am online, the more sypware I have, and it starts to slow the system down. I definitely notice the computer running better when I keep on top of the maintenance issues.

I run mine when I get bored. That is, when I have nothing better to do - because when I run those programs, I usually let it take the entire 100% of CPU. As long as you have an anti-virus and a firewall installed, once a month should be more than enough.

Interesting answer, lol. I´ve got antivirus and firewall installed, but the spyware still got through.

I scan for spywares in once in 4 days. I use zonealarms antispyware program and its very good it does not allow any spyware to get downloaded to my computer so i don't have to scan daily. Once in 4 days is enough for me.
