Hello rocking_star! The role that you have is quiet challenging. Being a teacher is not an easy task for you greatly affect in the mind of the child. But do not lose hope for all those things done by your cousin. Just continue to inspire him so he will appreciate the value of learning. Just remember that a good teacher inspires. To connect to the kids, you must be a kid. HOW? You can use lots of strategies to arouse his interest and you must have to enjoy with him. Try some games which is related to the lesson so he will not be bored and instill in the mind of the child that learning is not boring but an enjoyable experience. I just want to tell to you my story as a teacher for maybe you can get some ideas from this. I was a secondary school teacher in the Philippines and was handling two critical subjects. I used to teach Literrature and Mathematics which at most of them perceive as boring and difficult subjects. Inspired by my students' perceptions, I designed some strategies to make these subjects interesting. I got it from various types of readings which include the internet. STUDENT-CENTERED ACTIVITIES were on my focus and true enough, students ar enjoying a lot and finally they're craving for the subjects which they perceive before as boring and difficult. It became easy because I have catched the students' interest but sad to say that I was not able to stay with them longer for I am now in Thailand working as an ESL Teacher and the same thing is true here. My students are always excited to study with me in their English Conversation Class. I am just inspired by this famous quotation: " The mediocre teacher, tells. The good teacher, explains. But the best teacher, inspires." It's so overwhelming to hear those words of thanks from your students. Just enjoy what you are doing rock. Give a heart to teaching and for sure, your cousin will be at his best soon.

To become teacher with friendship aproach in teaching and daily conversations is the key to solve the issue! But it's time consuming! You must not think that she is slow learner! Because children are always learning by doing and for them learning is more important from direct living life! Life has so many things and children have all senses opening with every moment of life with a tremendous imaginative power! So to know their this ability is connected with child education and to get in to individual finding interest for learning must have more deep understanding of child behaviour! Well, please read or reffer few books on and about child psychology to become a mature teacher and love the childhood with all its implications, which will provide few hints to you how to go to teach the child!

firstly find what she strong at, if you can't find one make one it must be one subject she strongly at,if the limit is 30 minutes try to extend about 5 minutes every day, until you get 1 hour per day. Secondly my opinion is, some subject can be learn with hans-on so think and do like that, maybe you can extend time for her study. Study with long hour does't mean she will get all the content so it's better if she can get the best in 30 minutes or you can use some reward each time she can answer the question. Reward is not must meterial only,it also can do it in speaking i hope this can hlp a little bit..

OK, You start telling her stories while she go for the bed. Definetly she will be interested in listining stories, then buy some story books with as many pictures in the book and do explain her. She will be interested in reading books, then slowly concentrate to read her subject books in the same method. She will become more interest in her subject at one stage she won't require to guide for her studies
