Do you think it is safe or healthy to eat or consume food which was heated or cooked in a microwave oven ? Do you think the food nutrients will be destroyed by heating in the microwave oven ? Will the food cause cancer in our body after consumption ?

I often wonder about this, I still do not use a microwave oven... Does food become radioactive?

I had researched a website which stated that microwaves generated in microwave ovens cease to exist once the electrical power is turned off. They do not remain in the food when the power is turned off. Neither can they make the food or the oven radioactive. More details can be found at this website: http://www.arpansa.gov.au/is_mwave.htm

What I am sure of is that microwave oven cooked food doesn't contain oil and are generally healthier. But then again, it boils down on how you prepare your food. Whether or not microwave energy transfered on food may or may not cause cancer is a pretty good topic to research on and be informed about. To the web I go... I'll let you know if I find something. Cheers!

I think you have the positive attitude towards this topic. We should do more research on this and inform each other about what we discovered if we want to eat and live healthily. Thanks for making the effort.

No, definately not. Food needs to be heated up in order to be consumed safely. Some foods are dangerous when eaten cold. Microwave ovens just simply heat it up, and make no harm to the food itself, except that the food may result in losing some nutrients.

I agree that food must be heated up so that we can consume safely. However, I understand that by microwaving foods, the molecules in the food may be altered. Overheating can also destroy the nutrients.

I think it is better to be knowledgeable about the dangers and take precautions. Cancer cells take time to grow. If a person gets cancer, it might be too late to cure or heal.

I really think it is fine. I must be.. I have been reheating food in the microwave oven for ages! If it is not fine, I am fine it would have been banned by the government already. :P

I have been using microwave oven for about 10 years. So far, my family is ok. However, I still have friends who are afraid or skeptical of using microwave ovens for health and safety reasons.
