Gas on the way up again!! Who cares?

I just got back from filling up my car and the prices for gas are through the roof. It is crazy that the oil companies are making record profit while the comsumers just keep paying more and more. Is anyone else fed up with these prices? I live in a rural area and to get anywhere, you have to drive at least 18 miles, I am not sure how some people are living that are on very fixed incomes or work for low wages.

It is ridiculous. I remember 5 or 6 years ago when I could fill up my pickup truck for around $20. Today when I filled up it was $44 and I already had a 1/4 tank before filling. We live in the country too. The nearest town of any decent size is a 30 minute drive. While I know this is our lifestyle choice, the high gas prices make it all that much more tougher. Everyone complains about the high gas prices, but we all still pay it anyway. We can limit our trips and conserve where we can, but in the end, we still pay the high prices anyway. I'm not sure what we can do about it, but it doesn't seem fair a few people are making alot of money while the majority of us are suffering at the gas pump.

True, so true. Even one day of banning the use of gas would hurt the market. Thanks for the response !!

It drives me crazy!! I can't believe how gas goes up so much! I get excited when I can fill my tank for less than $30-- Its back up to almost $40. I agree- gas companies are getting rich off us poor consumers. Its the old supply and demand! We have to have it to go anywhere- Unfortunately where I live there is noone to carpool with to and from work.. so it's a necessity for me! I cringe when my gas gauge gets lower and lower! Filling up takes a big chunk out of my paycheck! I'd rather spend it elsewhere!

My husband said a few years ago, before the prices hit so high, that there would be no better way to slow down and crash a good economy than to jack up fuel prices. Gas is needed for every industry and every person uses it one way or another. It just seems amazing that one day they have a hugh supply and the next day they are in a shortage. Thanks for the reply

Today it is about $2.40 a gallon. In 1971 the price of gas was 21 cents a gallon. Can you believe that? For $2.00 I could drive all day long! For that now, I can't get to the corner and back! When Clinton was President it was only 89 cents a gallon.

It is crazy!! I don't know how people with bad circumstances survive. People within are government are making money of this gas ... they won't chage it!

well we dont have have choice in this ..i know i also get worried regarding this ..we are taking severe cost cutting to cope up with gas proices ..like we dont go out too often ..whenever we are going out we make a list and list down maximum work we can complete during that trip ..if possible we do car pool

I care because it gives me less cash in the pocket. I, too, do not know how people are doing it...I barely am. I am lucky that my home heating bill is set on an average for the year, so I am not experiencing the significant increases (yet) that my friends and neighbors are receiving for that. Back to the car...it is just getting more and more expensive...and then it will drop 20-cents for a couple weeks, then it rises again. I do not understand....but I certainly care about.
