I was raised on a farm. Not the kind of farm that sold foods for money. We raised our own veggies, fruits, and farm animals. We raised cows for milk. We raised Hogs for havign pork to eat. We raised chickens for the eggs and the chickens to eat. We raised horse for working with and for riding. We plowed our garden with horses and raked the hay in the hay field with our horses too. We raised our own herbs and made our own mixes so we had a variety of foods to eat. We only had what we raised and made ourselves. I was never in a restaurant till I was dating. I was so excited to go out to eat and McDonalds was a big deal for me. When I got married, I was so excited because now i could purchase mixes without having to make my own. Well I soon found out that I was allergic to the MSG and other additives in the store bought mixes. My excited was not long lived. I was forced to begin making my own mixes again. Only now I had time to make them better by ultering the amousnts of ingredients and adding a few that my mom would not allow me to use. this Dec wil be my 29th wedding anniversary so I have had alot of years to perfect my mixes. I love to share my mixes and recipes with others. Sometimes I will discover a totally new mix that I am amazed that I had not thought of it sooner. This is why I makd my own mixes. This is my story. Why are you interested in making your own mixes? Are you just learning or have you made them for years? Are you interested in more of my mixes and recipes?

I was raised in the city. I became more alive when I finally made it to the country. I like restaurants but not all the time. I take pride in fixing more wholesome and natural foods my family. We feel better for it. The mixes are cheaper and I like to save money. Also with a busy lifestyle mixes can allow you to make good food in a short time. I am beginning to raise the things we eat and these mixes fit right in. Also as my kids get older these mixes will make for good gifts so that they still can eat well despite living whereever they end up. Bring on more mix recipes. We learn and share and keep connected!!

I am just learning to make the mixes. The reason I am doing this is my husband and I are trying to save some money and this would be a great idea. I also think that things made from scratch taste so much better. Thanks for posting all of these great ideas.

The only mix that I make is the Master Mix developed by Perdue University for biscuits, coffee cake, cookies, gingerbread, pancakes, and waffles. It is really good and, you know me - I got the recipe from Tupperware and it fits in one of the Tupperware Modular Mates Containers, so that's how I store it (whoops - shameless self-promotion, but I am NOT providing a link). I always look forward to your posts Annie~Donna
