Female and Male cats

My cat is usually very terratorial, yet a male black cat jumped our backgate yesterday and my female just watched him walk along the wall. She would normally jump up after it or chase it but this one she just let go past. I though it strange, do you think it was because it was a male or a friend or because she couldn't be bothered?
Cat's do things when you least expect them.

Most Likely Reasons:
maybe that black cat is her boyfriend or was your cat's ex-husband or perhaps,
your cat thought it was bad luck to mess around with a black cat.
maybe that black male cat had homeys in a gang that your cat had not dared fighting with him.
or maybe that black cat was actually an ostrich, everybody knows that ostriches are aggressive animals.
it's even possible that your cat is just plain scared and had become so much of a pu$$y.

She is quite partial to black cats although any other colour she goes for, especially black and white. Before she was done it was a black cat she together with, maybe memories of that night perhaps :-)

This seems the most likely explanation.

You didn't say if she is fixed. I have had female cats before. Sometimes they do want to be with a male or if the cat is strange to her. She could just be in a good mood today. Watch her and see if the male comes back.
