Ok. It's not just once in a while. It's everyday. I find paper in her bed, under her bed, in her underwear drawer on my desk, on her daddy's desk, in the play room. GRRR. She's ten years old and has done this since she could use scissors. And she's using our printer paper and my craft paper! She has a HUGE box of paper that she can cut up which she uses on occasion but our printer paper is now gone and we can't print!!! Any advice on how to get her to stop doing that or at least stop using our paper? We have told her she could not use ours and we have even locked it up but she gets it and uses it. She's very very sneaky!

I guess it is a girl thing..my daughter is 6 and has been doing this for along time too....I was hoping she would grow out of it (and not be doing it when she is 10 =)) I don't know I let my daughter cut up my magazines after I read them...she loves cutting every little thing out, pictures, just a color she likes, whatever.

my daughter would cut up my books if i let her. I have put my foot down on that. I caughter her one time taking scissors to my favorite BOOK! I had a cow. She destroys everything by putting stickers on good cherry furniture, the tv, she colord with permanant ink on her tv. I just don't know how to stop her. Her dad (not my husband) lets her do it. So i get the "well my daddy lets me do it " phrase!

oh i wonder why she is doing dat? she loves the bits of paper maybe and uses it as some sort of confetti... but im not sure why she does that and for what reason... you can or you must talk to her and tell her to use her papers, and you will buy her colored if she will not use the printer papers...

Well, I can not give as such solid advise as Zukepr did. But I can say that I have seven children and two of them do this also. And my children did it to our printer paper too! So, we went out and bought a case full of notebook paper at the same time as the printer paper. We made it clear that if we found that the printer paper was being used in this manner again, that I would refuse to let them cut up paper and take all the scissors away. Now, mind you...the children's ages that do this is 10 and 7 years old. And they have had things taken away before for some time because they had abused it. So, they took it very seriously. Since then...they have been pretty good about not using the printer paper. Oh! And I keep a pack of notebook paper on top of the printer paper. This way, it reminded them when they went to grab a piece of paper...they needed to grab the notebook paper. :)

I have 4 years old daughter who also love cutting paper but I'm glad that I've learnt her what allowed and not before it's getting out of hand. So, before she start cutting things, she'll ask me first if its allow to cut it. At school I saw she learnt also about cutting paper creativity and I guess the teacher also clearly learnt her to cut wisely. When I feel like she wants to cut something that not allowed, I will ask her opinion and then I'll drag her attention to something else and most of the time it worked just fine.... otherwise keep the scissor out of sight....

My daughter does this and it drives me crazy. My daughter is only 5 years old though. Funny thing is my daughter uses our printer paper and my scrapbooking paper and won't touch her paper that she has. It makes me so frustrated!
