What music do you play to chill out to? I like listening to music like Air and Lamb to relax. Although, there's a guy at my work who, when he takes off in his car every night to go home, he absolutely blasts his death metal. I've asked him if he listens to it all the time and he said "yeah it helps me relax, gets rid of my stress". Each to their own I say, so what's your stress releasing music?

I tend to listen to music that has a calming effect on me in the first place. If it can put me in a place of mental serenity, then I am a happy person. I really enjoy any music from Enya, Robert Miles, Collective Soul and Kenny G. I also like listening to 80s music because it has a tendency to take me back to a time when my life was simpler. The more of a calming effect this music has on me the better. I really like that I can put on something I like listening to and have it drain me of all of my worries and cares. Music should have that sort of an effect on anyone who listens to it in the first place. I don't think music should be used as a way to agitate people but as a method of therapy for them. That's the effect music should have on a person in the first place. It should be able to calm them when they need it to but also lift them up when they need it the most. Music should be able to take us away on a journey all while not leaving our bed or even the comfort of our own home. Music as well should be able to uplift your spirit and help you to overcome obstacles in your life. It should be there to soothe your spirit through the dark times in your life and there as a color to highlight the good times in your life. There's a peace I find in the music I listen to that helps me whenever the world has me in a corner feeling like I can't move forward in life. I like that music has this positive effect on me and my life nowadays. Personally music is therapy for me...I feel it can ease the pain in me and it can also make me feel great at times too. It can take me to different places in my mind and make me think of my dreams and where I want to be in life. It can inspire me and push me to better myself everyday. Sometimes I can find strength in the words written by a musician who I can identify with. I like it when a musician can write something that really hits me hard in the heart and deep down to my core. I find most of the music I listen to easy to identify with and soothing to my soul. If ever I am going through a tough time with someone on my life I know I can also turn to music to give me the support I need. I can find that a musician has gone through similar situations to what I have gone through and they've put that into the music they've recorded. Many of my favorite songs have stemmed from a similarity of situations between me and a musician and their ability to craft songs that have an importance. In conclusion, I find music the universal medicine. There's at lease one type of music for every mood that I go through. I try to pick artists that write important music about intellectually stimulating topics. Either that or when they come up with instrumental songs they have to have a relaxing or serene mood to them! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

When I am trying to relax I like to listen Anita Baker I dont know what it is but I love her music. When My first born was very small she would cry ,cry, cry and cry some more and one day I put her music on and held her and she would fall asleep in my arms. Thank god for Anita Baker. LOL.
