What do you use to wake up in the morning?

There's nothing more irritating to me than the BEEP BEEP of an alarm clock in the morning. Therefore, for the last 5 years or so I have been waking up to my TV. I set my TV alarm and it turns on my TV at the time I set. I can even set it to always turn on a certain channel so I'm not looking for something to watch in the morning :) I turn the volume down before bed almost all the way, and it's the simple sound of the TV clicking on that wakes me. For my future husband, we plan to get him an alarm/radio that plays music so I don't have to hear the BEEP BEEP from his side of the bed either. That I can deal with. I also got a new alarm as a gift for my future house (for me) that will play nature sounds :-D Anything that doesn't go BEEP BEEP is ok with me. What do you use ? I'm talking about what noise or whatever else actually tells you it's time to get out of bed in the morning.

Getting up in the morning usually isn't an issue for me as my internal clock get's me up around 5:30am every day. Waking up is more of an issue. It usually takes me 15 minutes in the shower and a pot of coffee.

Yep, if I don't get up when I initially wake up, and I fall back to sleep, I wake up feeling even more groggy. I really don't like that feeling.

Actually my internal clock a lot of times will wake me up an hour before I have to! I hate that! I'll look at the time and see i still have an hour and try to fall back asleep. Usually I do, but then it's even harder to wake up. I shower at night b/c I can't shower in the morning, I just wash my face and then slowly wake up as I get ready and on the drive in.

Hey......same i also prefer to wake up to the alarm i have set up on my TV. Its really convenient then a alarm clock making irritating noises in your ears. I have been using my TV to wake up since quite a olong time now and i think i'm goin to stick to it. :)

I think you are the first to say you use a TV also. My friends don't get how I can wake up to the TV because they fall asleep to the TV! I guess we are light sleepers :)

Bunch of flowers - Misc. bunch of flowers
I first wake up to my hubby's alarm at 4 am. He is currently using his cell phone alarm which is a mild beeping and not too annoying. He is using this so he doesn't have to get out of bed to turn the alarm off. I get upset if it is not turned off quickly since I don't have to get up so early --or want to! He usually gets out of bed around 5 am, waking me up again. Then I hear water running in the bathroom. Next I hear him rustling through clothes trying to match things in the semi darkness of our room. Sometimes the light goes on...ouch! Then he tells me goodbye, waking me up again. I snooze until my alarm goes off at 6:15 at which time I hit snooze cause I'm still sleepy from all the interruptions! I get out of bed anywhere from 6:30 to 7 am --dress as soon as possible and make a dash for work.

Haha that's a very detailed routine you got there :) What time to you go to bed if you are waking up so early? As for rustling through clothes - that's why I pick out my clothes the night before. My future husband's closet is in the other room so I don't have to worry about that :) I'd kill him if he said goodbye to me when I didn't have to be up yet! Haha, I can't believe you have so many interruptions.

I use an alarm clock and also my telephone service will call me automatically. If I need to wake up particularly early, then I will add an extra, special message to my phone service. That usually works!

Oh wow, I couldn't handle that. When the phone rings when I'm sleeping, it totally jolts me awake in a very unpleasant fashion. Glad it works for you though!

i put the alarm on my mobile. i prefer the tone which increases slowly in volume adn is a soft plesant one. at the same time it hsould be a happy tune. if it is too loud i get up with a start adn then feel upset. so i prefer to be woken up slowly slowly, like a mother wakes up her child:)

Me too, I enjoy slowly waking up. I used a cell phone a few times and I do like how it starts out quieter and gets louder slowly so you can wake up and find it and stop it!

We use the alarm clock to help us wake up. We put 3 alarm clocks on before we sleep. One clock is by our bed and the other one is on top of the fridge and the 3rd one is on the stove. They all do not beep at the same time. When the first alarm clock goes on, we turn it off and try to slowly wake up or end up going back to sleep. When the 2nd alarm clock beeps on the stove, then it's time for us to wake up. When the 3rd alarm clock beeps it will beep a very loud noise if we are not sitting up and have turned off the other alarm clocks. The three alarm clock method works very well for those people who don't want to be late for school/work.

You guys must be heavy sleepers than :) I'm a light sleeper so all that would irritate me greatly! I'd much rather crawl out of bed slowly and half asleep until I wash up. I wouldn't want to get up and go find the alarm clock. Glad it works for you guys though!

the best alarm clock is your own biological clock. once you are tuned into your biological clock you dont require any other alarm. you will wake up on time

Yes, you are right, the typical "beep beep" of the alarm clocks is really irritating, and yet I'm still going on using it. But to me it isn't a big problem, because I set my alarm clock at seven o' clock in the morning, but I always wake up a pair of minutes before, about 5 minutes, 10 minutes to seven o' clock, and so I don't make my alarm clock beep beeping. I think that the radio is a very good idea, it's good waking up with a sweet kind of music :)

Now I'm using my cell phone to wake me up in the morning. I had tried to use an alarm clock before, but I was tired of remember to change the battery every time it was out of energy, so I used my cell phone. Another reason is I can set the song I like to be my alarm tone. It's more comfortable, I think.

I don't need an alarm clock, because I have a human been as my alarm clock. My mother is always wake me up in the morning, so I can go to school without being late. When I sleep late at night, I have a hard time to wake up, and she keeps bothering me, and drives me crazy with her voice. But it helps, because eventually I am waking up for school.

I use my Nokia N73 to wake me up in the morning. I have set it up to wake me up at 7am during weekdays and wake me up at 9am during weekends with different alarm tones. I use a third party software to do this because the basic alarm clock feature of Nokia N73 is too basic because if you use the default alarm clock feature of the Nokia N73, you need to set it up everyday and you have to stick to a specific alarm tone.

Well, I have a great quality CD alarm clock that wakes me to a CD. But it takes too long to change the wakeup times. So I normally just wake to the alarm on my cell phone. That's when I have to get up to get SS off to school or something. If I'm able to sleep in, I end up waking up to DS on the baby monitor, talking to his stuffed animals. That's a very pleasant sound to wake to. :)

although an alarm clock will wake me up. A COOL water when i take a bath usually do the trick (even if i had only 2 hours of sleep). when i come out of the bathroom im already awaken by the cold water ( i prefer it because hot water is not a good wake up water! haha ) i need something that will let my body know that another day is ahead of us.. :))
