I just watched the interview of the 9 year old girl in Illinois that was able to crawl through a window to save her neighbor. I found tears in my eyes. These are my heroes, the children of our world that are being taught to help others and be kind. She is a girl scout. I am a boy scout leader. This little girl is an example of why I believe in Scouting and what it does for the children of our world. My hubby has a bumper sticker on his van that reads: America is returning to the values Scouting never left. I couldn't be more proud of that little girl unless maybe if she were mine. We need to be sure that all children know that just little things in the world can be great. Gees! Can you imagine, 5 inches. Get a ruler and see just how big a space it was that little gal was able to sqeeze into. WOW!

You didn't say what the problem was. Was the house on fire? Kids often surprise us with their bravery under difficult circumstances. I wish the papers would give as much attention to young people who are doing good things with their lives and less to those who are shaving their heads and getting tattoos for attention.

The elderly lady was crying out for help because she had fallen. I think it said she had broken her hip. I agree with you. The media does not spend enough time on the good deeds of the youth in our country, or any country for that matter.
