Maybe you already know what I mean, but I'm talking about The Look they get when they use the wrong tone of voice, talking back to me or they've done something wrong or haven't done their chores like they're supposed to. My kids know what it is! It is a powerful thing! It can get me an immediate apology for talking back, an immediate change in tone, an immediate correction in whatever they've done wrong and immediately get chores done! LOL

Yes, I definitely know "the look." I remember my mother giving me that look when I was younger. She still gives us that look now that we are older too. When my oldest daughter is around me, I usually give her a look too. However it doesn't always work because she doesn't live with me, so I have a way with words. She knows what I mean when I say "stop." She knows that I am not kidding around anymore.

Yes, they do. They push until I give that look and it seems they know they have crossed the line. My kids are now 12 and 13 and starting to kind of ignore "the look." The are trying to see how far they can push and finding out it isn't far.

I didn't think that I had a look until my husband pointed out that I give him the same look the my mom gives my dad! I thought that this was funny but now I know that it is the best tool I could ever have been given by my mom. My husband knows how to push my buttons and he will continue to do it until I give him this look and then he will stop immediately. I think at times it is funny to see his reaction because it looks like childhood fear but he is an adult so it just strikes me as hilarious and I usually end up laughing.

They don't recognize it all the time but I would say most of the time they know what it means and stop what they are doing before they get in trouble . My husband says I can throw a nasty look when I am not happy and says I have the look down to perfection with him anyway as he can tell if I am mad or not just by looking at me . The children will try and push more though if they think they can lol .
