We love torture?

I watched Saw III the other day, and got to thinking about all the movies that have centerred on torture lately. Why do we love watching horrible things happening to other people. Do we secretly enjoy seeing people tortured? What do you think?

I think u like sycho movies very much but in saw 3 there r many horrible things so i think u must watch like that movies like HOSTEL and other movies.

Maybe because people aren't all that honest. Do we want to be tortured? No. Do we stop and look at an accident as we pass by? Yes. I think part of it is out of curiosity, part of it is out of an animalistic nature to see someone wounded, part of it could be out of a taste of what revenge might look like - which in my opinion is what most torture is based from. Maybe we do it to feel better about ourselves in some way also. I'm personally not into gore and violence, but like you stated, it seems to be almost everywhere you look. I was a little disgusted by 24's new turn on the ultra gory new look. Gross!
